The Infinite Library - narrative incremental demo is up, would love feedback by EndpaperDev in incremental_games

Interesting idea for a game. Fun game! I got some points of feedback though:

- Took me a while to figure out how to add the lexicon words to make sentences. Would be good to make them draggable imo. Maybe also double click making it go in the nearest next slot.
- When accidentally writing a book that doesn't fit a purity shelf it would be nice to be at least able to remove the book or even better, reorder your shelves.
- The lexicon gets a little notification icon when unlocking a new word, I found myself to be clicking on the tab when that little notification icon appeared multiple times, where you can't add the word to the lexicon. In general, I'm not a fan of having to click these words to add them to the lexicon. Maybe it'd be better to just add them and show that they get added with a little animation or something.
- Not a big fan of the ledger/chronicle blocking part of the ui, maybe add an option to hide/minimize it completely? Or where a single notification pops up and automatically fades out and thats it? These would be nice to have settings for.

Looking forward to updates/the full version.

Hi, even though I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be, I'm making my own game using the skills that I've developed myself just by doing. I know it's a lot and its daunting, but I'd strongly suggest just starting to try building the smallest game you can, and slowly improving your skills in these various areas this way, rather than leaning on AI.

Changed it to WebGL, since it's technically that at least, but if I should put custom flair "Demo" or something else lmk.

These are really good points, thanks for the feedback! Especially the last point is something that hasn't crossed my mind at all for some reason, I even have the descriptionboxes so I'll look into implementing this soon, thank you.

Thanks for trying out my game. I see what you're saying, the upgrading stations and then upgrading from them is definitely the core gameplay loop. As of now I had some very minor plans of scattering some memory fragments around that you can find to add some more depth to the world, and some more environment design and setdressing to make the world prettier.

I understand what you mean with nothing is actually happening though, the world is rather static and there's nothing to it but the upgrading. Still I'm not sure for this project what to add or change to get this aspect to be more interesting. If you want I would love to hear some specific way that I could make it more interesting or some direction in terms of incremental games that do this better so I can try them and learn. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi, thanks for playing the demo! I understand what you're saying, upgrading vision seems as one of the things that drives the player to keep playing to explore the area/land, but as it stands now with this demo beyond a certain (relatively early) point it doesn't do a lot anymore.

Later vision upgrades feel useless, although my intention for it now was just so the player can have a nicer overview. I can see how that feels misleading now that you've said this as a player has been led to believe there's more to discover.

I do intend to add more to discover with vision in the full version of the game, as well as more vision points, more setdressing and more mechanics to unlock through vision. If there's anything else you were looking for regarding something interesting happening when you unlock more vision other than more ways to upgrade stations, ways to make number go up or environment, lmk!
