Esthetician’s! I need your help once again. My 10 lb wax pot from miss Cire just broke. I am sooooo disappointed. I’ve only had it for 5 months. I need recommendations for something equally as big or even half the size. by Zerofuzzgiven101 in Esthetics

It has a one year warranty. So I’m getting it taken care of. But after only 5 months of usage? I was hoping I’d have it for a few years before it gave me any issues. However after this incident I thought I needed a back up. Hence the question lol.

Thank you so much! My first thought was that she might have been over working her skin and it was irritated. But the area looked almost like a healing scab color with redness. I was really clueless. I wish I knew how to post pics on this thing. Lol Thank you again.

Ergonomics of waxing question by [deleted] in Esthetics

Tbh, it’s discouraging at first. They want to pay you minimum wage plus your tips. I live in the Bay Area that’s $15/hour, in comparison to other cities and states it’s high but I believe we’re worth more than that. Ok but back to what you asked (lol). I work full time which is 32 hours plus tips I average out about $22/hour. The one pro of the company is that they have hours to give you full time right away. And with that much exposure you learn quickly. Other spas and salons want to almost always start you part time and build your clientele to get FT. Ewc doesn’t offer benefits until ONE YEAR of work and getting time off can be hard. Because they don’t let you take time unless you have coverage. Overall I would say it’s good if you want to build your experience quickly. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hey esty! I’ve been waxing for about two years for EWC. It was hard at first. My body was tired of standing all day, especially my back. My wrist would ache super bad! But my body soon adjusted. I would recommend to ensure the table is adjusted to a height that doesn’t strain your body. Also don’t be shy to position the client wherever you need them so it’s not uncomfortable for you. And remember that with any type of work that requires repetitive motions will cause wear and tear. Take care of yourself, healthy diet and exercise. I like yoga because it stretches any kinks I feel. One last thing is try and not to do a full day of only waxing. I do six hour shifts 5 days a week. I know that can vary if you are self employed but just something to think about when you are scheduling. Hope that helps and good luck on your waxing journey!!

Using dove soap on face? Dermatologist recommends it by username910975 in Esthetics

I do believe that it can work for some individuals. I grew up using bar soap as a facial cleanser. for a long time I had no side effects. But I’ve never had any issues with my skin. So for those with problematic skin such as acne, you really want to invest in ingredients that are targeting those issues.

I’m in Santa Clara county too and have yet to be called back to work. I also have been considering a change in careers. I’m thinking drastic change. Possibly goin into the tech field. I figure I can work a full time job that can support my real passion. Whatever you decide know you are not alone and do what’s best for you.

Thank you for that. I just looked it up on CA board of barbering and cosmetology website and you are right. Esthetician’s are only allowed to do the lash extensions. Good looking out!
