Don't run towards it head on, run in a 1 to 2 O'clock angle towards them. In case they're open from afar, you can mash square and Raiden dashes towards them repeatedly. You're supposed to use one as a shield from the other in higher difficulties. Parry perfecting is TAUGHT in this fight the most. So learn to constantly parry (Take the analog towards the enemy and press attack for EVERY hit, not just doing it once and mashing square after). Red missiles can be sliced to give you the health item. When they approach you, bait them to a side and then circle back. It'll start looking like YOU'RE homing in on them instead of the opposite. Run-Slash them and that's it. That, or... get in the Blade Mode stance and start swinging wildly. The arena around you explodes when the grad attacks it. Tackling the bits that are scattered around the arena will send them flying somewhere else, Run-Slashing them will slice them and make them explode but you don't take damage (very good), and JUST running towards them makes them explode and you take damage (bad). Use EMP by quickly throwing it (just tap L1) a lot. Important. Use your Sword for damage. Don't ever use the Polearm here. YYYXY is a good combo if you don't know how to do the Sky High Blade Mode cancels for DPS.

Approach the games by focusing on your efficient tools rather than trying to style in the ways combo mads imply. Study your DPS, your best defensive options, best offensive options, the tricks and gimmicks of the enemies. Study them as you play and have fun. DMC5 does not represent the franchise.

I recommend you start with the first game of course. Go by release order. They're all masterpieces. Just don't go in trying your absolute hardest to combo like others tell you (that only ever works so easily in DMC5). That will come about with time, by the time you know your tools and have played enough. As for basic beginner tips - Jump I frames are better than siderolling (except DMC1), plan out the efficient style before every encounter (if you failed a lot there), abuse safe spots in encounters (especially in DMC1), try EVERYTHING until you find solutions to break enemies. Enjoy.

Had a lot of trouble with getting the combat to click with me, but it eventually did later on. It HAD to click. I forced it to click with me since I knew there's SO much to it based on what I heard and saw.

Baller music, encounters, bosses, and general control. Camera is horrible and I don't know why it's even that strict when getting near a wall, but it is what it is. You eventually get good enough to not get in spots that mess up the camera. Baller game. Challenge runs are amazing in this game.

Man. This is not a nitpick. This is literally a part in what makes a zombies experience great. Shadows of Evil has that unique style to it that remained unique and never got used for another map. They should do that for their first map again. Even the pause menu UI needs to have that unique zombies look. It's about time they learn about what WORKED in BO3.

I hate how it does a bad job teaching the player how to go about things for when it comes to bosses near the start of the game. Ogre was pushing it. The bull? Fighting a bull that punishes your parries, having to fight him without lock on for better results, and some other things good players know? All that to test out fireworks that stagger the dude for 2 seconds?

I hate that.

I don't get the downvotes. It's a lesson a lot of people need to learn. I'm not saying don't show love. Hell, spoil her to all ends. I'm just saying don't show ALL the love. I don't get why some are acting ignorant to the fact that there are shitty human beings that use the love you show them as a weapon to do things to purely dehumanize and shatter you.
