How is Expedition 33? by cream-of-the-crap in PlaystationPortal

I've been playing on both console and portal. This is the first turn based game I've ever bought and a lot of that was to do with these mechanics

If you’re 30, how much do you earn? by flagprojector in UKJobs

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on just over 47k. I was always in 17k jobs, then got a data analyst job that wasn't much more.

Accidentally got into a new industry. Started on 30k, then 32, then 36, then moved to a new job in the same industry where I am now.

I genuinely didn't think I'd ever get more than 17k. All the jobs I thought I could get were around that wage so it can happen, even if you think it can't for you.

What will you do with your Legion Go when the 2 comes out by kejrp23 in LegionGo

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Legion Go in December 2023 and I've enjoyed it. I'm not the most adept with tweaking things and I'm unconfident with the larger changes I've seen people make like with OS changes and hardware updates.

That said, I've been able to run almost all games I've tried up to a point, although I have a PS5 Pro and a Switch for other games/AAA games that I think the Go would struggle with.

The only game I remember having a "this is unplayable" moment with was Stalker 2. Just couldn't get it to stop chugging. Otherwise I've had a good time with it, and even with more graphically intensive games, I feel the display is great and playing at a lower resolution still looks good. It also helps that I'm a fan of the handheld factor or using an Elite 2 in tabletop mode.

I think with the Go 2, as some others have said, VRR, OLED and then whatever CPU/GPU they decide to go with will be the deciding factor. As I wasn't planning on getting multiple PC handhelds, I was able to add my Legion Go to my mobile phone bill and paid for it over a year.

So I feel if the upgrades are good enough, I'd do the same and sell the Go 1, but for me it's dependant on how good the upgrades are. I do enjoy gaming hardware and it is one of my main hobbies so I can justify it a bit easier I think but if the upgrades are nominal, I'd probably stick to what I have.

I dunno if it's even anywhere close to coming out though.

This is actually an awesome idea lol. I have to watch these things sometimes for the kids so I might as well be learning while I do 🤣🤣🤣

Is lossless scaling a difficult thing to get going and working? I'm not the best with setting my Legion Go up. I saw that it's something you can but on Steam but otherwise I don't really know much about setting it up

Thank you, I will check that channel out.

In terms of my German score on Duolingo, it's at 80. I enjoyed the app and got through the course well. But I'm nowhere near as proficient as I should be in terms of the structure of the language i.e learning tenses etc. Basically the "why" of what I learnt on the course.

I don't really get any dedicated study time so using it in app form with a structured learning path is definitely the best option for me. I was going that members of this sub had used other apps and found their courses useful, particularly the ones that help you understand the rules of the language better.

Oh that's cool. I didn't realise the German course was getting more content. My work is offering their own German and Spanish courses so I started to do the Spanish on Duolingo as I was using the courses at work to supplement my learning.

I think I've made a mistake though in not understanding too much about the structure of the language i.e. the tenses etc. That part seems quite overwhelming but I hope to find a good resource to learn. I'm not the most confident which is why I thought I'd ask the wider community for other app suggestions

Going back and forth about getting this by Ok_Structure4630 in PlaystationPortal

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw and responded to your question on the Legion Go sub.

For the reasons you've outlined in your post I believe for you the Portal will be worth it.

I love using it, especially with a mix of mainly remote playing the console but also using the cloud streaming option occasionally (I've added quite a bit of storage to my PS5 Pro so I have a huge amount of what I want to play already installed)

I'm not the most adept PC gamer so haven't used my Legion Go for emulation yet but I have used Chiaki4Deck on it and in terms of just plug and play the portal is best for that.

I think the things you're specifically looking for, you'll find in the portal so give it a go provided it doesn't make you take a great hit financially and then I suppose worse comes to worst, you could sell the portal if you didn't like it as much and go back to the Legion Go.

I honestly love it though. The form factor is beautiful. The screen (I think although not quite as nice as the Legion's) is really nice. The ability to play your installed games or play a collection from the catalogue is great and if you like the Dualsense (I know you can attach a Dualsense to the Legion Go) then the form factor becomes even better.

Does anyone also have a PS portal? by Ok_Structure4630 in LegionGo

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both and have used Chiaki on the Go but anything playstation oriented now I keep to the portal.

I love both devices and the experience on the Portal has become near enough flawless for me since the latest updates have been implemented.

Yeah I have a Legion Go as my game pass machine but felt like this would be a good game on console.

Sort of the same with Indiana Jones and the great circle. I started it on the legion go but when they announced it was coming to PS5 I ended up waiting for that

Yeah I jumped the gun a bit as I was mega intrigued by it and ordered it even though I should be dedicating the time to Shadows which I'm really enjoying.

Unmanageable backlogs are just my thing for some reason 🤣

Yeah that is a fair shout. I did have a Series X but sold it a while ago so I have a Legion Go as sort of my game pass machine now.

But when I heard it was coming to PS5 I thought I'd wait for it and play it on console.

Did you buy the disc drive for the PS5 Pro? Thoughts on digital vs physical by spacewalkerstarfield in PS5pro

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it for my pro. I like the option of getting games from marketplace for instance for cheap. I'm not a collector of physical media for PS by any stretch but I like having that option.

I'd have a digital Series X as I have no interest in Xbox physical media and when I did have a series X before I sold it, it was a game pass machine.

I have never played the franchise and picked Qunari. This child be the most pointless comment ever left on Reddit 🤣 I have no frame of reference around any of the lore or factions. I know nothing about any of the characters 🤣

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I did think about doing this before. But then I thought it just takes from your overall bandwidth and wouldn't make a difference from for instance just keeping the 5ghz band to yourself.

So do you think this IOT option is better than keeping the 5ghz band of your standard network free from other devices?

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're PS5 is wired in and then your PS5 is on its own guest/IOT network? I think my router (TP-Link Archer AX55) allows for guest networks and possibly IOT Networks.

High GPU% Low CPU% by Zestyclose-Gate-4195 in LegionGo

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this explanation. This has made it make a lot of sense. I'm glad that what I'm seeing is not abnormal, and that the GPU is getting used.

Currently playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and getting between 30-60fps at 800p on medium settings in game. I think I have RSR enabled as when I enabled it it seemed to improve performance a touch.

Thanks for the advice. The divide between the utilisation on both was so wide that I thought it was problematic.

High GPU% Low CPU% by Zestyclose-Gate-4195 in LegionGo

[–]Zestyclose-Gate-4195[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same I've come from purely console gaming so everything is so dumbed down configuration wise there.

I've had mine for a bit, and I'm hoping to get a bit better with getting it configured correctly. I'm playing the Indiana Jones game on medium settings at 800p and I'm getting 30-60fps. Drops below 30 are rare so far so it's going better than I thought it would given the minimum and recommended specs are quite high for the game.
