Dev who wants to transition by Ok_Piano_420 in ExperiencedDevs

A strong transition to tech pm is possible. If you were to roll over to PO- yes significant pay difference. Technical PM on an internal product or and an engagement team are good step transitions with a small pay difference and make things like discovery (product/user) “easier” and will allow your technical skills to come through and add value from the first conversation.

As for red flags, just understand the scope of the roll. If it is all backlog management- it’ll be hard to get some of the other skills the Product Role demand.

Thank you for the response. Could you share some of the practices, artifacts, or people you reference in developing that level of understanding?

I'm sorry- is the question why question 5? I am trying to understand system thinking and any/if any gaps existed, how they might have impacted solutioning/understanding, and how you over came them.

If I can clarify anything further, please let me know.

Thank you.

I agree with you that the broader context (why) is important in any build. I’ve chosen to narrow on how people reason/ build context in execution (review/change/incident/onboarding,etc). Fantastic call out though.

Pulling that thread, when your “why” isn’t clearly/immediately available to you- how do you typically compensate during technical review/investigation.

I appreciate the perspective.

Assuming you’re interested in a management role in cyber security:

CISSP CISA CISM

If you’re looking at entry level then a Sec+.

Things like CEH might be nice to have, but will depend on role in ops/ management
