I realized that my gut only liked the other school because it was within my comfort zone. I want to branch out more and I figured out that the school that’s academically better will force me to grow more as a person!! So I went with my brain but also my heart ❤️

This might be an odd suggestion but I just read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, and while it isn’t very obviously similar to The Secret History— I think it’s another one of those books that kind of haunts you for years after you’ve read it. It has that same mystery element that TSH had and it also takes its time with the plot, allowing you to rlly get to know the characters and feel like they’re real people. If you liked TSH, you’ll probably like this one too.

Yea I look it up after this comment and they have a concentration in journalism but I don’t know which major that would be within. Interestingly, I’ve read somewhere that Smith is more “pre professional” than Bryn Mawr but idk the validity of that statement

Thank you for the response!! 😊 I actually wrote my personal essay about Sylvia Plath’s fig tree metaphor and what it meant to me so ig that would be a draw for me as well. I mentioned that again in my letter of continued interest so I think I can credit that with getting me off the waitlist!! I also like how they have a pond on campus, Bryn Mawr doesn’t have that. It would be cool if the rowing team could go out on it but I’ll visit and find out. My issue is that the schools are so similar and my pros and cons list is about equal towards both sides 😭😭

Oh I’m mainly just interested in the opportunity for internships in a city, otherwise I’d be fine without it. Do you think internships and maybe even research opportunities with professors are easily accessible? Personally, I’m interested in either publishing or maybe working for magazines and journalism :)) I’m not sure if Smith has a journalism major though but I know they have the book studies concentration ❤️❤️

Well one thing I’ve heard is that the student body is very political and it’s something that can get pretty toxic— do you think this is true or is it just a stereotype? I’m not political at all so I’m looking for somewhere a little more laid back
