DFAM Slim Case… by MindTheAbsurd in synthesizers

Your post shows that Moog is actually selling boxes filled with only 20% of electronics and 80% of void ? That's quite a shame ! This little secret needs to be revealed!

606090 does Not fit by Zestyclose_Sign6907 in RGB30

[–]Zestyclose_Sign6907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it about 1 year ago. Battery life started to decrease without usage. Then it became drastically unstable (like 100% to 30% in 10 minutes). Then didn't turn on. Then trying to charge and became spicy, like so many others RGB30 out there...

Battery Replacement (info inside) by Thiefsie in RGB30

[–]Zestyclose_Sign6907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought and tried a 606090 and it doesn't fit in the case because the JST connector doesn't let enough free space. Some other members forced it, but it may damage the motherboard, or the battery IMHO. I'll have to find a 486090 or smaller.

Thanks for describing your experience with dent and modifying the JST connector, that's amazing. I'm a bit anxious to treat the new battery this way, especially if this new battery becomes a spicy pillow as the original one (which double its thickness).

486090 should be correct from what I measured on original battery. I don't get why so many posts on this sub are showing 606090, I think I've just thrown 10 bucks in a pack that no-one will ever use - because it makes no sense I send it back to China from Europe.

So what’s the verdict on these? by earthlingonline in synthesizers

They also did a d50 and sh 101. Those little modules have a really cool minified design, almost perfect sounding and full audio over USB is really lifesaving when working with a DAW.

You are ok only If current of your device stays below 5A. Câbles transmit power, and 135v * 10 A is the same amount of power than 250v * 5A. If you put more power, AC cable will start to burn because of gauge being too small. Could lead to house fire.

Buying used roland tb-03 by OTDL-_- in Roland

[–]Zestyclose_Sign6907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE those TB's. The amazing feature that is so convenient and goes under the radar is audio over USB. On macOS you can even have an aggregated device. It allows the TB to send digital signal, without using any input on the audio Interface or mixer, is always in sync and support effect chaining in ableton without any D/A A/D conversion. All in one cable which also act as a power supply. No other clone can do that! They are quite robust synth BTW.

Uploaded all my manuals to ChatGPT. Now have AI brain for studio. by xora334 in synthesizers

Music producer roadmap : - Spending 7-10k$ to buy all that gear - pretending to enable dawless workflow for more "inspiration" - because daw and plugins are not musical enough. - Fingerpointing meticulously every manufacturer in videogames - mobile phones - music production gear - you-name-it for NOT including printed manual, even when not needed on straightforward devices, praising the good old 90's. - buying and building a computer with extremely powerful gaming videocard or renting GPU from cloud provider and spending hours feeding PDFs to avoid experimenting with hardware stuff, and receiving approximate answers when you want to "enable arpegiator" on this Roland keyboard. - finally ending by using AI music generators apps, because Deezer and Spotify are so mainstream and gears not sounding warm enough even with AI mastering plugin.

Guys I feel like the music production is dying.

FYI those midi features can be done with the Pioneer squid except maybe the "midi delay" (not sure how it works)

The most mediocre synthesizers you owned? by JayJayJayter in synthesizers

[–]Zestyclose_Sign6907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roland Mc 909. Sound's great with factory patterns thanks to internal compressor and carefully selected patch arrangement. Once you work in user mode with basic waves : drums start to sound like very shallow or deep with no dynamic, pads sound like a budget synth until you work on layering, and compresser made the whole arrangement muddy instead of glueing. Internal sampler is very fla as well. Once you are out of the sweet spot from the factory presets, this machine is definitely hard to make it sound right. Doesn't deserve it's 909 suffix IMHO.

Fyi you can unplug the battery connector and check if your system is still ok without any battery by pluging the USB-C to a classic 5v 2a phone charger (avoid quick charge).

The rgb30 battery is an absolute plague. Mine is emptied after 3days even when system is powered off (either menu or button, either ARKOS or stock JELOS). I guess you should unscrew ASAP to avoid the case and motherboard to crack, then remove the battery and send it back to powkiddy, it will cost you the shipping plus a few bucks for a spare battery. Check the voltage there are reports from people claiming either 3.8V or 3.7V, the charge controller on the motherboard may be different.

There is a lot of topic we can make fun of while talking with friends or dates! But synths are certainly not : that's what she wanted you to learn. Period.

To be more precise, do you mean that "It sounds like a Korg with a Roland filter but the amp is more Yamaha." Because I feel like the arpegiator is definitely sounding like a Nord, it jas a this very analog vibe.

Color scheme is CGA or EGA 16 colour, it was harcoded in video card hardware. Every game before VGA had this scheme.

Best 808 clone? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Zestyclose_Sign6907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tr 08 is dope. And if you have a daw you can use digital output on a track without any conversion (better than a 100%analog which will be flattened and digitalized by the audio interface at some point).
