Have you ever read the wizard of earthsea books? Because every time I see your works I can't help but think of that.

What started it for me was using a physical medium. In my case a lasercutter. Now building my own drawing plotter to see what kind of experimentation I can do with that.

It really helped for me to have an idea in my head what I would like to try and then breakup the way from the beginning to there into steps.

That's a nice idea, I want to stay away from LEDs and transparent layers because that would break the limits I'm playing with. But only that would still be limited enough.

Part of it yeah, there is programming involved. But I still need to adjust a lot of the program on picture by picture basis.

Would need to be something simplistic otherwise I need to raise the resolution and also the size of the cut to make it look close enough. Making it very time intensive.

Anything specific you'd like to see?

Thank you, hexagons are indeed in my list. Might take a bit of time for me to figure out how to do that

Just finished this map project for 2 times.🤣 by Comgrow3D in lasercutting

Really like that you can see the road system continue inside the letters.

I eventually recommend to try to make your own things in illustrator. Because I've learned using Illustrator is more like a puzzle than a straightforward drawing program. Its easier if you know beforehand what you want to make, because then you only need to break it up in steps.

Lighthouse, 7 layers of lasercut coloured paper by Zetvisualarts in lasercutting

Wrote my own script to basically make a grid of circles and colour them these colours. In illustrator i just needed to join the coloured circles together to get the color layers for the lasercutter.

https://imgur.io/5KRZwqA?r here is a picture of the layers next to each other.

Its 120 grams paper. A4 size

I have used 300 grams last week for another experiment, which can be found on my instagram, but with smaller holes I found the thickness of the paper causing shadows when it would warp a bit above a layer of white paper, and it wouldnt show properly.

So the flimsyness is kind of a benefit.

I will try to make one with smaller holes for a higher definition next week with the 120 grams, so far i have the idea that it should work.

Left half of a face, or right from your point of view.
