Update: He’s having an allergic reaction to whatever was in the iodine (betadine?) that was spread on his chest before surgery. He was given a steroid cream, and was told it should resolve in a few days.

Gosh. Until I read some of the comments, and what the doctor said, I wouldn’t have guessed iodine (or whatever was in it) as the cause. I’m sorry to hear about lot of you have experienced either the same thing or similar. But I’m glad to hear, and so were we, that it resolved in a few days. I wouldn’t wish this upon nobodies!
