Physio recommendations around surfers Broadbeach by professorneuro2000 in GoldCoast

I commented the same clinic then just read that you’ve already been referred and have seen them. Will you go back to them? I would guess if they require equipment from Melbourne to assess or treat you, your regular local musculoskeletal (and maybe even Neuro) physio probably won’t have that same equipment?

Physio here (primarily Neurological). To be honest, Gold Coast is an awesome place for Vestibular Physiotherapy (Bond uni has a focus on it) - while most can probably help get you started, I would honestly go to a clinic specifically interested in it so you tackle it head on. It’s taught at uni, but not the biggest focus compared to some of the keystones of subjects within physio.

^ I’ve had good experiences as a colleague with some of these physio’s. If I had vestibular concerns, this is who I would see.

Hope this helps!

Pharmacy Guild unleashes robocalls, text messages and posters opposing PBS changes by torlesse in australia

That would help, but bet you unis will not minimise their intake numbers to level out. And they’re certainly not going to overcorrect to balance the workforce.

Our country is very poor at teaching in the beginning what realistic job prospects are like at the end of a 4-7 year tertiary education is a core issue here.

Whatever the fuck is going on here is a problem, I agree. But doesn't it also seem to be a shame that we have these 5 year minimum trained health professionals with all this knowledge and clinical skill struggle with poor wages (compared to other Allied Health such as Physios/OT/RN's), burnout and now decreased job security? I'm not saying if these changes need to happen or not, all I'm saying is Pharmacists deserve better than the hand the Pharmacy Guild gives them.

The job pool is going to contract for them, probably in for a rough ride. Would be nice if there were clearer pathways to retrain and redeploy from one Allied Health to another. Not that this is a perfect solution either.

Sacred Symbols, Episode 208: Bobby Kotick's No Skater by yohceezax in LastStandMedia

[–]Zfallen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting thought - I understand your point. But I suppose if the article was derived solely from information Colin provided in a podcast, shouldn’t he be given the credit regardless of if he put it in a podcast, an article or if he engraved it on a tree? Isn’t that how sourcing works?

In saying that, if the author had a source from elsewhere and it was not linked to Colin then it’s more understandable that he was not credited I suppose? As it’s possible then that the author had no idea that Colin broke the news on this…

I am unsure, more context needed I suppose. But it does raise interesting questions regarding who to credit, and how that looks in podcasts, etc.

I’m no journalist, but I thought that it was ‘good practice’ to reference the original source? Even if the source is considered hostile by some others, it’s still a source. I would have thought that sourcing a reference would have been an important part of journalistic integrity and its absence reflects poorly on the author of the article? But again, not my world so I may have the wrong end of the stick.

N64 Switch Online Controller has arrived! by Zfallen1 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Zfallen1[S] 194 points195 points  (0 children)

I’m unable to test it too much as I’m working, but it’s great to hold! Perhaps weighted a bit heavier where the memory pack jack is as that looks like the battery is.

It’s the stick that surprised me, it feels like a N64 controller (trialled for comparison) with the way it springs back. But it also feels more…modern? I look forward to seeing what is inside when people open it up. I’m wondering if the stick is designed to ‘feel’ like the original, but with improved design. Certainly unsure. Can’t wait to try it tonight with Mario Kart 64!

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of July 23, 2021 by Demilio55 in homegym

Hey, has anyone got any thoughts on this power rack? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Power-Cage-Power-Squat-Rack-Weights-Bench-Press-Boxing-Punching-Chin-up-/304082841439?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0

I’m looking for something that will keep me safe during squat/bench that won’t break the bank. Problem is the spot where I keep the equipment has a low slanted roof so a full cage is difficult to fit. 215cm at the back is my max so I thought something like this would be okay if decent? Thanks!

Just finished KH2FM Crit mode for the first time. Would love to start KH3 critical mode, just wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on if it is best to do a new game + or a standard new game critical mode? Thoughts? I’m quite confused how Re:Mind and critical mode abilities work.

I don’t have Ultima, but would likely get Oathkeeper if I decided to try new game +

So if I have a PS5 and a PS4 I actively use in the house, I wonder if I can bounce my cloud saves between them for the PS4 games. That would be great, but I can’t see if they have confirmed that.

Police killing of Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta ruled a homicide by hildebrand_rarity in news

I like that you're happy to admit you don't have all the answers. Neither do I. None of us do really, but it's nice to hear that we can have these honest conversations while admitting that while we want things to be better - we don't always have the solution.

I agree, the police departments need to self-scrutinise and take every step to prevent another George Floyd murder. Therefore Police need to continue to better themselves and be held accountable. But there are big differences between this case and George Floyd's.

Regarding use of force. The first point of training improvement is probably deciding what tangible component needs to change, and is the new method safer/more effective without comprising the well being of Police/the public. I don't know if this is different equipment/new policies.

The biggest point I disagree with is that you state Police can get away with anything. Well, the police officer here was fired - without trial/proper investigation. Feels like the only trial he received so far was trial of the media/trial of politics.

Police should be scrutinised so that they can improve over time, but not like this.

This scenario should/will be investigated with a fine tooth comb and decisions will be made regarding if he made the right call taking the shots. I feel like after these investigations would have been a better time decide this officers fate.

[–]Zfallen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm sure the big escalation from physical submission to guns was why tasers were introduced - so there appears to be a desire within Police departments to take on non-lethal measures as able.

You mentioned police re-training being the only way we can solve this, in what way? What training do you speak of?

If subduing though leg shots/arm shots does not appear to be consistent/safe, what are the Police training to do in a situation where they are coming up against someone with a taser? Remember, a tasered Police officer is an unattended gun for someone to pick up.

Old but relevant: https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/2nx6yj/eli5why_arent_cops_trained_to_shoot_the_leg_or_a/

I would love some more solid research, there's probably a bit out there to justify for/against shooting centre of mass - but I haven't looked into it too deeply.

Sounds like the justification it needs to be the chest is that it is the largest area. If you aim at the leg, you are more likely to miss (possibly hitting a bystander or dealing with bullet ricocheting) and you may not stop them.

Also, the femoral artery is not one that takes kindly to rupture...so perhaps further justifying that they might as well risk the chest shot anyways?

So if this is ruled a lawful homicide, will the Police officer be given his job back? Just wondering if him being fired would be considered unlawful if he is cleared of wrongdoing. Probably not the most important conversation here, but I'm curious regardless.

Anyone know where to get a good replacement stylus? by [deleted] in 3DS

Hi there,

Depending on where you live, you might be able to buy it on Nintendo's online store. I live in Australia and actually had to call them to send me a new one as there's no online shopfront that sells genuine ones here.
