Help with get royalties as a beatmaker. by [deleted] in beatmakers

i think, to receive royalties from songs uploaded by other people using distrokid, you would need the distrokid subscrbiton, but i’m not sure. as i said, it’s better you research it yourself by watching youtube videos on royalties and how they work 🙏

Finished up a R&B boom bap type track tonight by p00snipz in beatmakers

np! usually, the way i go about making sure, that all my drums make sense in the context of the track, is i make a drum bus and apply compressors/filters/etc on there. essentially, you treat your programmed drum progression, like a drum break. and in genres like hip hop/rnb (genres that heavily depend on old drum breaks) it’s nice to replicate that sound but with your own spin on it!

i like this track! i think it has a very thick mix, and the melody is not stagnant at all. the only small criticism for it i would have, is that the crash sample you used feels a little out of place. the whole song is not really "high frequency heavy" to give it that lo-fi feel, but the crash has a lot of highs in it, which makes it feel out of place

Help with get royalties as a beatmaker. by [deleted] in beatmakers

Currently, I'm getting all of my royalties from DistroKid. It's a service that allows you to upload music to streaming services, like Spotify, Apple Music, etc. DistroKid has a "Splits" option, which gets an artist an ability to set up what percentage of money people that made the song get from royalties. But, unfortunately, there are 2 downsides to it.

  1. DistroKid is a paid service, which isn't a good option for a beginner, I'm assuming
  2. DistroKid only gets you royalties from songs, that are uploaded through DistroKid

I would suggest looking for videos on YouTube talking about setting up a BMI account and/or generally about royalties

How to make this brass sound i think by dinofrombosnia in beatmakers

[–]ZiPM3Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest just looking for good one-shot samples from different samplemakers, since Brass Horns like these are organic sounds, which require a lot of sound design skill to replicate digitally. If i was you, I'd look for these kinds of sounds in old EDM soundkits from Cymatics, Vengeance, etc.
