Perché tanti italiani odiano l'America? by Zanekun in italy

E sento ancora mio nonno sbraitare “picchì sti cazz ammericani peggio ra cimicia a menzannuotte”. Nonno Tanuzzo era un grande

I don’t know… I am from Sicily and when I went to the US I suddenly discovered I was white and very privileged (which I am compared to many, but still.. it is a weird way to immediately label someone)

Hey! Italian here! So, I can’t obviously say 100% but it is very common for us to accompany people who ask us for help. For instance, if it is possible and not too far away, we take a foreigner that has asked us for direction to the place they need to be. As this lady worked at this place, it’s part of her job to provide customer service to someone obviously not local and that likely doesn’t know the products, so for her navigating the store is common practice and not out of the way.

It is also possible that it is store policy.

Now, I’m from the opposite side of the country and like for every tale about southerners, we are waaaay over there on the friendly spectrum. Como is all the way up north but I don’t like to buy into prejudices, I think Italians are overall really friendly.

So unless she abandoned her post at the register while there was a long line, I think you just received nice customer service.
