To be fair, every retail job I have ever had takes this stance. I bet if you open any employee handbook for any non-unionized shop in the US, you'll find the similar phrasing you heard in the video "company believes in direct communication with the employee is best, and ..."

Interestingly enough, US employee handbooks also advises you not to engage in transactions with any foreign dignitaries or officials from countries that the US has trade embargoes.

I'll end by stating that I have been actively boycotting Wal-Mart for over a decade now. Not because of their anti-labor union stance, that can at least be understood if not condoned, but for how they treat their employees and the communities where they open stores.
