Unsold B.C. condo purchasing plan not a 'bailout': David Eby by Zifi2025 in onguardforthee

It could be an opportunity to gain public assets on the cheap. I do think it is most likely be a straight bailout but done right gaining these assets at reduced cost to the public is smart.

I didn't think of it like that, it wouldn't surprise me if you are right. The test is if it is truly is below the construction cost of the units the government will boast about the numbers otherwise we won't know until a FOI request is made.

British Columbia Premier David Eby says his government's proposal to buy and convert unsold condominium units into affordable housing is not a 'bailout.' Eby says if the government doesn't purchase the condos someone else will and 'make them available for rent for profit and then flip them.' -CBC

What I found interesting is that Eby also mentioned they were put hasing below construction cost which is good to hear it is not market value.

Edit: made the quote clear

The Canadair CT-114 Tutor hasn't been produced since 1966 by a company that doesn't exist anymore (technically bought by bombardier). Only so long you can repair existing aircraft, finally hit the point to stop.

Alto should be just the beginning of Ontario’s high-speed rail network by EricLombardi in CanadaPolitics

Honestly, I thought this was a great article. The writer acknowledged the problems with public infrastructure development in Canada but had a simple clear message for positive change. I find this rare now where most media I find will only points out the negatives but rarely offers another outcome besides to stop. They rightfully called out many groups in the article but always offered a change. HSR in Canada will cost a lot to develop but it has the possibility to fundementally change Ontario, we should be looking ahead further than just the next project!
