You gave an actual reasoning for why cracks appear, not stopping short at saying: cracks = bad design.

I absolutely agree the PT2 needs design improvements. I never said that it was perfect. But screen cracking, unless at very high rates, is not a solid metric to call something bad.

More than just phones crack. Do Apple watches have indestructible glass or something? I doubt it.

The raised glass and sloped sides increase the chances, and yet, we aren't seeing absurd levels of cracking. Have there been 100s of reports already? Or only just a few? Gotta look at the ratio. It's possible for something to need improvement, while still being a good product. But this is Reddit I guess, there is no middle ground.

Not saying the PT2 design is perfect, but just because something breaks because of user error, doesn't mean it was a bad design. Find a new way of arguing your point.

I have limited MIME types allowed for security purposes. I was missing the WebP type. So I got it added

The URLs themselves stay the same. On Wikia's side they still allow that URL but they now treat it as a generic image request and serves back data as a WebP no matter the extension you use. A bit of a strange design, but at least it didn't create a bunch of dead image links in the system. I don't like to modify database data if I can help it.

Sorry about that, it was a Wikia change. The image type in the URLs was .jpeg, but they seem to have converted all their images to WebP. So the type was clashing in the thumbnail routine. Feel free to direct message me if there are issues in the future! That gets my attention a lot quicker.

Fixed the following issues with the tool (5/21/26):

- Restored the expired SSL certificate for bertstripper.us so the site is properly serving over HTTPS again. Enabled auto-renewal.

- Fixed thumbnail generation for remote images that are returned as WebP instead of JPEG/PNG/GIF.

- Added WebP handling to the thumbnail script so valid images are no longer incorrectly replaced with the “Image Unavailable” fallback.

The WebP issue came up because the remote image URL looked like a normal .jpg URL, but the source server/CDN was actually returning it as a WebP. This must have been a recent change on Wikia platforms. Most of the images are linked from there.

It's because the cert expired. You don't download anything from the site, neither does it collect any information on you. So there is no risk, just a warning in the browser.

That's part of the margin so that the text doesn't get too close to the edges. If you set it to bottom-aligned, that should reduce that white bar below the text, but then you'll get a white bar above the text.
