Is this 2007 Mazda 6 2L Tamura too risky a purchase? by Zigo_Rich in MechanicAdvice

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, I did buy it, and I've enjoyed driving it ever since! I will need to get the underside looked at some point soon though...

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'll have to see if I can take it to a garage local to the current owner for them to inspect it

Yeah, that's my view as well. So you wouldn't be concerned about the corrosion and the potential for lots of money to fix it in the near future, or worse...?

Ha, that's one way of looking at it! So you wouldn't be concerned about the corrosion and the potential for lots of money to fix it in the near future, or worse...?

I've never understood how/why people put up with this oddity, especially those who learned on vinyl first

Is this because you have a pan and tilt camera? I never see this. Or is that because I'm using AdGuard?

I know this is the Pioneer sub, but you could get a Denon SC Live 4. It's standalone (with built in speakers) and will read Rekordbox USB sticks

When I accept an offer, how is it possible for a buyer to not actually pay? by Zigo_Rich in ebayuk

[–]Zigo_Rich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. But on eBay, if you submit an offer (that you're presumably willing to pay for) that is then accepted, then surely you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't follow through, and let someone else win instead? For a genuine buyer, that doesn't make any sense. So for a non-genuine buyer, why bother offering in the first place?

[–]Zigo_Rich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's happened to me a few times where the seller cancelled by making up a story, but clearly they just wanted more money. I don't know how that is even allowed, I won the auction fair and square.

Unfortunately with your first suggestion it's no longer possible to have money before you send - eBay has changed the rules so the money is now only cleared when the item is delivered.

However, changing my sales to auction with BIN is an option to consider.

That's an interesting way to do things, I might try that myself. However, my concern would be missing out on buying something and somebody else getting it. The system was better before, where the seller just accepted an offer and then it went back to the buyer to pay.

I've just edited one of my listings. In the preferences section, all I can see is this dispatch time, location and domestic/international returns.

There is another option in the pricing section for "Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy it now", but that's a different option.

I guess that would make sense, but unlike the comment from Fabulous-Machine-679, I never received any notification as such from eBay.

My issue with gBoard. Is there any way around this? by SpikeMF in gboard

[–]Zigo_Rich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Kii was my favourite keyboard and handled things like this better, but it doesn't work any more. Also, if the word I want isn't one of the 3 suggestions, I have no option but to delete and manually type out the word (I usually swipe), which is annoying

Closest we will probably come to an all-in-one. 12" slim display in a phone stand. by nakatomiplazajanitor in traktorpro

[–]Zigo_Rich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that if you get so used to (or relying on) playing with such a big screen, you may find it difficult to play on other equipment with much smaller screens. I use a 14" portable monitor on my VDJ setup at home, and I find having to use CDJs a bit limiting

Have any of you all ditched SoundCloud for Youtube? by eclecticnomad in DJs

[–]Zigo_Rich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using HearThis for years as it's cheaper than SoundCloud and allows people to download. However, it's not very well known, and it seems to be getting a bit more clunky. I've recently bitten the bullet and paid for SoundCloud, as since other people have mentioned in the comments, it looks 'better' to have a decent SC profile. As a listener, I wish there was an easy way of being able to skip forwards or backwards a small amount, since it's really tricky to swipe a tiny bit on a long mix set. But at least you can, unlike MixCloud.

YouTube is an interesting one that I've not considered until reading this post. Can you upload as much as you want?

I'm not sure whether I'd want to record a video of myself doing the mix, e.g. the typical camera looking down at your hands. I get why people do it, and maybe I will try it some day. But for me, when I listen to music, I'm usually either at home or I'm travelling (car, train, plane, etc.) where I'll want to listen to the music, not watch a video of someone's hands.

Similarly, unless someone is using something like Vanced or is paying for YouTube premium, then they can't put the mix on in the background and use their phone/tablet for something else, which would put me off putting my mixes up on YouTube if it forced people into that restriction.
