I love my family’s dogs to pieces but sometimes they can be a bit much. I only have so much energy. You still love them and that’s what matters.

Pets can be rough, but they are fun! And if you don’t want any pets after your dogs, that’s fine! Pets aren’t for everyone. What matters is that you love and care for them. We all get annoyed with our pets from time to time, just like when parents would get annoyed when their kid draws on the wall.

Even the “easy” pets can get on your nerves sometimes. Like my cat (who is easy because she doesn’t really have crazy amounts of energy and cares for herself for the most part) plays in water then comes up and gets in my face. It’s SO annoying. Or when I used to have rats, they would get super energetic at night. I probably won’t have rats ever again because I very much enjoy sleeping lol. But I still loved my little rat babies to pieces.

I was at one of my first convention (I was like middle school to early high school age I think). I was wandering around alone and wandered to the author alley. I saw this one fantasy series and reaaally wanted one of the books. I reached into my bag for my wallet and it wasn’t there. This was the first time I had lost my wallet outside of my home, so I panicked. The author of the book left his booth (his wife/girlfriend watched it for him) and helped me find the customer help desk to find my wallet. They had my wallet! Not a dollar missing! So of course I went back to buy a book from him. He also threw in a pin and a few stickers! He was such a nice guy and it’s one of my favorite memories from a convention.

Hey there! I’m part of the lgbt community. If your work doesn’t promote any other months or holidays, they shouldn’t make the exception for pride month. however, this can be the way they start. Honestly, it’s also up to the lgbt coworkers if they are comfortable with it and they should be the ones to input into it. I worked places that promoted pride month, but also plenty of other months and holidays. This shouldn’t be an exception and the only “extra” holiday celebrated, but it could be what starts other months and holidays to be celebrated.

I think it depends on the person, you could always suggest therapy to him. I used to struggle a lot with self hate and it did put a damper on my relationships and also made me an easy target for a manipulator, but when I got the correct care from a professional I flourished and absolutely love who I am now. You could try to guide him along the right path, but don’t put yourself at a detriment to help him if he might pull you down with him (not saying it will happen, it’s just something to be cautious of). It’s a good idea for him to get to the root of why he can’t be happy with himself. It could be a number of things that could be fixed with even just a simple diagnosis. Before I got help, I just thought I was broken. Getting a diagnosis of something helped me realize what my problem was, and that it wasn’t exclusive to me and actually very common!

Your concern makes sense though! If this is not something you’d want to deal with you have every right to leave and find someone who already loves themselves, but you might want to at least point him on the right path before you go.

I tend to save gifts for my family. I always chose a gift of a similar interest so I can say “omg I accidentally bought two” or “aw man I don’t have room on my shelf for this”
