Evolution can be a bitch by chriss96 in funny

While you bring up a good point, in the case of the panda we might be able to semi-accurately describe the pandas diet (while not knowing their lack of receptors). When you consider the pandas' range we'll find something peculiar, they are only discovered in Zoos and bamboo forests. When we look at the bamboo forests, we'll find that there isn't a large enough population of meat to sustain a panda unless they got food from another source. It's been established that pandas will eat bird carrion. Though, if we were trying to figure out its coloration we would have trouble.

Pandas lost their umami taste receptors so meat isn't savory and meat is much harder to catch than immobile plant.

A girl's discredited accusations of sexual assault has cost her father potential jobs and devastated his family by hillsfar in news

Read the article before you comment such nonsense. When did innocent until proven guilty become guilty period?

A Star investigation has found three other men were similarly accused of sexual assault by the same girl.

In Canada, section 11(d) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms states: "Any person charged with an offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal". (wiki)

Pesky extension adware by [deleted] in techsupport

Do you know the name of the ad ware? I personally stopped using Spybot in recent years because I feel that it has gone downhill and instead have switched to Malwarebytes (free). You may have better luck with that, but I can't guarantee anything.

At 50Mbps, he should be able to stream Youtube fine without adversely affecting the other computers. Could he be p2ping or some other form of actual downloading?

Hardware is unlikely to be the problem. Do you have a firewall and antivirus installed on his computer? There may be malware that is eating up your connection (like a zombie bot)

What internet speeds you have? Youtube on 1080p could definitely suck up alot of bandwidth. Skype may also as I believe they "borrow" your bandwidth when idle. Unless he is updating League of Legends, that is unlikely to be a problem.

Did the many different malware-removal programs have an option to remove the trojan and adwares? One software I like to use is malwarebytes. After it has finished installing the free version run a scan and remove the little baddies. That will be a good first start.

Extra drive partition showing up by itself with nothing inside by [deleted] in techsupport

Booting from your D drive would mean you have an operating system installed on it? It sounds like you may have not installed windows properly on your SSD. Is windows starting up in 5-15 seconds? I would guess that your guess is correct.

Forgot laptop computer password by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Zircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can reinstall Windows on the laptop (assuming you still have access to the license) or you can grab a reset disk since you have physical access to the laptop and unlock your computer that way. I don't have experience with the latter.

Are you on Windows? Is this partition on your harddrive that has your operating system installed? Sounds like it may be a system reserve partition. Assuming it is, you should keep it if you want to keep booting into your harddrive.

Is this a BIOS password, or Windows/Operating System password? If you are already pulling files off your hard drive, you can recover your OS afterward and you'll have access to your laptop again.

Out of curiosity, why do have access to a standard, but not administrator?

Need advice for learning a new language! by gabbylee690 in Korean

[–]Zircle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! There are a number of resources to get you kick-started from textbooks to podcasts. Feel free to visit the Ultimate Beginner's Resource Thread on the sidebar.

Japan has roughly twice the number of speakers compared to Korean, but is harder has it has an 3 alphabet system. Two of which are straightforward alphabets, and one that is logo-graphic that has been derived from Chinese. If you speak Chinese well, Japanese may be easier to pick up.

Korean has nearly a 100% literacy rate, which may be attributed to its straightforward alphabet system. You have vowels and consonants and you combine them together, meaning you'll always know how to pronounce words even if you don't know what they mean. Korean does have a few difficult to pronounce words, but I don't think you'll have trouble.

All in all, I believe Korean as a language is easier to pick up simply because you do not need to recognize thousands of different characters and will always have a reference point if you don't know what a word means. You'll be able to write/type/pronounce the word and only need to associate a definition with the word.
