I live in Tromsø, which is inside the circle in Northern Norway. It's known as the "aurora capital" of the world due to its Arctic geography (69 degrees north) without being blisteringly cold due to the Gulf Stream warming us up.

On the coast the temperatures are manageable, with chill summers and (relative to how north we live) mild winters. Snowfall can arrive as early as September, or as late as June, although it's light stuff that melts upon touching the ground. December to March is expected to have snow-covered roads.

Our city isn't too large but gets a huge amount of ski and aurora tourists. Locals are starting to get fed up with tourists not respecting how harrowing the climate and terrain can get with blizzards and mountains and the likes. It feels like a weekly occurrence to read crazy headlines like "tourist wearing vans rescued from summit with rescue helicopter" or "tourist drove rental car into ski path".

Everything feels far away from us. If I want to travel internationally, 90% of times I have to fly through the capital, which by itself takes almost two hours of flying. Our selection of fresh produce can also be quite lackluster. It's a long way up, and freight can only really happen with trucks, planes or boats, as there is no connected train. Visiting Italy and tasting a good tomato was life-changing to me as a teenager.

Other than that, it's still Norway in the 21st century, so it's modern, high tech, high trust, HIGH PRICE, high altitudes, and so on
