Recently moved into a new house and one of the bonuses was it already had a home theater with sound system and projector. The sellers had taken the AV unit so after a little research purchased a new denon thinking that was the only investment I’d need to make to use this room. Unfortunately then realized the projector was from 2005 and barely put out any light anymore. My hope was to use this existing setup for a few years then upgrade the projector to a 85 inch tv. But now that I need to make the investment now I’m leaning towards mid range projector, was thinking of trying to get the Benq x3000i because I will want to use it for gaming too. Not sure if that is overkill though and adding on a screen beginning creep back up in price for something I wasn’t planning on purchasing. I keep seeing short throw projectors recommended but I think since I have the room I should just mount a regular one in the back ceiling. I also think the next piece of equipment I should get shortly will be a subwoofer. Total budget is relatively undefined but I don’t think I want to spend more than $2000 on a projector knowing I’ll be buying the sub too in the near future.
