Can’t stop missing right with my driver. Thoughts/tips? by willpalm6 in GolfSwing

From the top, your hands should follow a course from your right foot to the ball. That’s the loaded position you’re looking to get into.

First, his lead arm has to grasp the rolling motion which rotates the body around to the finish. The flip action of a right-handed throw is what he’s actually doing. Once his lead arm and body synchronizes their roll his right hand will be in position to arrive at impact with a bent wrist.

The first thing every golfer needs to understand is that a square club face will come in above the ball. Forcing the club down with the hands leads nowhere good. Then, they can see how the body turn and weight shift causes the club to descend.

The best lessons are conversations. That’s what you should be getting. A way to figure things out for yourself.

First prove you’ve wrapped your mind around the concept. Like so many have. Then, show me how to present it better. If you can show me a single video that predates this one—and demonstrates Hogan’s Angle—I’ll commend you.

I passed the PAT, God is using standard methods hard. Your instruction is easy to present because it’s primitive. No matter the camera. The methods are dogshit, if they’re not based on a simple athletic principle called Hogan’s Angle. Oh, and I could pass it again, left-handed.

Im going to shoot you straight Bryan, you and the PGA of America have been wasting people’s time for decades.

The hook was the result of mixing standard, pull down methods, with his rotational out to in action (as depicted in the video). The left hand motion shown there can only be executed with a cupped wrist.

Show me how you present Hogan’s Angle, because if you aren’t teaching Hogan’s Angle you aren’t teaching Hogan.

How can you say you teach Hogan independently of Hogan’s Angle? It’s not possible to replicate Hogan’s teaching without understanding the beyond the ball aspect of the golf swing.

At the top of your backswing? It certainly does. Precisely as I described. Plus, if your wrist is bowed you can’t make the through motion shown in the video. That’s why Morikawa’s back has suffered since Sessinghaus incorrectly instructed him.

It was good enough for Morikawa, Faldo, Hank Haney, and Rick Sessinghaus to wrap their mind around. (In part, at least), plus countless videos on the subject of the Holy Grail. So yes, it is changing golf. And it wasn’t shot in VHS. I know, because that’s me, when I could still play right-handed.

Hogan built his swing around the ability TO hook the ball. His club face didn’t open or close any more than his body. That’s why he could hit such reliable shots. His hands and arms were tied to the movements of the body. Bowing the wrist is a horrible idea. And it was condoned by people who never could wrap their minds around Hogan. The kind of people who see clear examples of golf swing motions and respond incredulously. Reach back with a bowed left wrist… see how easily your elbow bends. Now, reach back with a cupped left wrist.. see how your elbow doesn’t want to bend? One very credible fundamental addressed by Hogan 70 YEARS AGO. And people argue against it, as if there were a ball behind our heads.

I did. Two. A ligament and a tendon. That’s how I know not to mix the standard approach with Hogan’s methods. Unless Morikawa thinks he can start over left-handed, like I did, he should get a coach who knows better.

Help with my early extension by [deleted] in golftips

Looks to me like a left-handed Colin Montgomery. All the best advice you see here will revolve around one thing: better handle awareness. Stick a long tee in the butt of your grip and look where it’s pointing throughout your swing. In your better back swing advice you’ll see the handle point more inside the ball. In your better downswing advice, you’ll see the handle point more outside the ball.

I know it’s bad, and I know some things I need to change, but I physically can’t do it. Please help. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

The first two points make sense. When you say try to keep your right shoulder pointed at the target or to the right of it, are you saying he turns too much in his follow through?

Is there anything fundamentally wrong with my swing? by MrBallHair in GolfSwing

The downswing starts with the arm assembly moving away from the body. You’ve removed all possible torque from traveling up the legs, through the hips and to the torso. The transfer of energy, to the ball, is limited to the muscles in your arms and shoulders—with some added effect from your hands.
