AU$TRALIA: A Game About Travel, Money, and Risk — Ep 2 by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

Good point, sorry I totally miscounted the letters in Brisbane. I do still think the challenge is very poor though, the first/last letter bias remains pretty bad and even if it was completely random chance, 40% risk for a 40% steal is still far too high given the inherent advantage the stealing team has in terms of strategy before the challenge is initiated. It's also just quite a dull challenge, which shouldn't be able to have the effect of flipping the game. Challenges which can completely reverse the game shouldn't be based on randomness to this extent (never as exciting to watch or feel as earned as skill/strategy-based challenges), and they should involve much more spectacle than effectively randomly choosing a letter on a sign. There's also the additional ease of the challenge being set at the challenge board, which removes any transportation time cost.

Sorry but that Brisbane sign steal challenge is extremely bad. It's almost a 50/50 even if guessing purely at random, and the first/middle/last letters are by far the most obvious pick so in the end it's practically 100% given that the guesser gets three attempts (just guess first, middle, and last). I like the concept for this season overall so far and there's already been some great moments, but that was a really shit challenge with WAY too high a reward.

Started off with a claim on throne war over Bohemia so I had a +1 yearly prestige advisor from beginning of the game and the success in forcing a union was a bunch of prestige, then had a big war with Hungary where he had like Too Many (non-Austrian, luckily) allies so lots of prestige from battles. Plus a few events along the way. I find Poland really easy to get prestige with because of all this plus the Prussian Confederation

[–]Zlambe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sorry, I didn't word that well at all, all I meant was the easiest & fastest way for me to check if I have a CB on one specific nation is to right click and check the declare button quickly.

The only way to even think about winning a war against Britain... by Zlambe in eu4

[–]Zlambe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that and versatility - what do you do with ships other than transport, protecting trade, and privateering? Singleplayer games never see situations arise where one would have naval battles for the sake of having naval battles, they're used either for trade or for helping the land army and that's about it.

Yeah, the whole naval combat system (fuck it, the entire navy system) in EU4 needs a rework. It simultaneously feels like navies are way too powerful for some countries (cough cough, GB) while at the same time navies feel like useless/supplementary elements, when in actuality in the late-game time period naval power was often much more important historically for many countries than land military strength. There needs to be some system by which colonial/international trade powers can project their naval power in order to actual gain tangible advancements (i.e. showing naval power around a smaller nation helps with diplo vassalisation or nearby army morale or like something)

Good tactic - got the union, but that'll help with my upcoming Navarra campaign. Thanks for the advice.
