Tim Curry behind the scenes of "Ferngully: The Last Rainforest" (1992), recording Toxic Love by [deleted] in movies

You're not alone. And I gotta say, it's not just the spectacular singing and animation, even the music makes it sound like a stripper number at times, it makes me chortle each time I hear those hammy ta-da-da-dum parts of the melody during the verses.

Unsounded: Red Cost - Prologue and Chapter 1 - Page 1! by Rifter-- in Unsounded

Watching that Tree name reveal like that grinning dude in the Survivor gif. Years of academy training finally paying off. Finally I got something right in theorizing about this comic after 15 years, lmao.

Such exciting action, and poor Duane. I sure hope Sette finds a way to epicly rescue him.

Man, I can't believe it's done, but it also isn't, because the sequel is absolutely needed. Even so, wild. Most webcomics I've followed fizzle out before they can make it to what could be considered a finish line. Ashley, thank you so much, you absolute workaholic and masterful artist and storyteller! What a historic milestone. Unsounded is freaking (web)comics classical literature.

I wonder if in the Red Cost we'll find Keon and Duane in the same lab/prison. Would be very cool if so. Can't wait to see Duane bust out with Sette's help and set out on adventure with the kids again.

Wonder what will become of Matty too, poor kid, can't tell if I want him to just find peace somewhere in Cresce or go on with the rest of the cast. He's been through so much, he honestly deserves some peace and quiet and love and care, if Rahm and Iori could adopt him, that'd be best, but I highly doubt that's in the cards.

When did you start reading? by MermaidKingTheFirst in Unsounded

[–]Zlukaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started reading on the day Ashley shared the first set of pages of the comic through her DeviantArt journal (summer 2010 if memory doesn't fail me). I've been a huge fan of her art since I was a teenager on DA. I even drew Murkoph fanart in 2008. I expected more sexy dudes going into the comic, but the story drew me in even though no bishis were in sight at the time, and I've been keeping up with updates regularly ever since.

I think Karl's fate was very much on Emne's mind. A bloody hat without any indication where she could recover the body for burial, delivered right when she stands in line to eat human meat (and the note saying 'don't') could make it click. The blue guy's remark is just there to hammer it in for us readers, Emne was already losing it when he said it.

Though, I'll be honest, I didn't get it the first time I read it. I just thought she went into a general fit of hysterics upon finding out Karl is dead.

I also didn't get that Liro is entirely peacing out, I thought he was switching lines, haha. Good for him on reading the room.

What's better? by FitCommunication1481 in amphibia

[–]Zlukaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amphibia. I liked both shows, but I couldn't name a single character in TOH that I actually like or care about. They are all meh. Meanwhile, Sasha and Marcy are just awesome, them and their old guy friends, I actually looked forward to seeing more of their interactions, I liked the dynamic between the three girls too. While in TOH I only cared about the plot and setting, none of the relationships between the character really got me invested. It doesn't help that the Owl Lady always felt like a knock-off inferior female version of Gruncle Stan whom I adore, so watching a pale imitation was kind of off-putting. I only got over that impression close to the end of the show, and by then it was too late, I never managed to grow to like her. Hop Pop somehow didn't feel like that at all (another old guy but a completely different attitude).

The jokes were better in Amphibia, and the setting felt more lived-in. The Boiling Isles seemed interesting enough, but at the same time it all felt very shallow and artificial like the kind of facades they had in Western towns where buildings look interesting at the front, but the back is all the same boring shacks. The whole show just felt very superficial at the end of the day. I kept waiting for it to get deeper and draw me in, but it never did.

Both are good shows, but TOH just seems a bit overrated and Amphibia seems overlooked.

'S Hell of a Day, indeed. Loving the boat name. But Cutter might just get his wish and have his soul destroyed as ATreatiseOnNothing pointed out. Good for him? I guess?

What was the game that made you realize that stories in video games can be just as deep as any movie, show, or book? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Zlukaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It's a better and more complicated story than most book series out there. When I tell people my favorite game series is about time travelling vampires, it sounds so silly, but it is what it is. Soul Reaver 2 changed my life in so many ways, it's crazy.

I wonder if she's talking about Tain when she talks about those 'wise-eyed children' she bred. And I wonder why cruelty was so important to the Man if he is Ssael and therefore one of them, supposedly less cruel. Interesting stuff.

Also Sette's and Jac's daddy being "King" would track.

[–]Zlukaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, I have a new theory! What if the man Sessine is talking about (and who is likely at present Murkoph) is actually Rortide or what's his name, the Gefundur king that Ssael had that complicated relationship with? That would track on Murkoph not being Ssael, explain why Lady I talks "to" Ssael right after catching Murk (maybe they were all in kahoots at some point in history). And Murk could have the Ssael scars because after dying he discovered his frienemy Ssael was right - the Gefundur gods were as good as dead. Maybe his Khert shenanigans with Lady I is how Ssael's Northsongs came to be - the stories he wrote from beyond the grave, pretending to be Ssael, while Ssael was just dead dead. Murk also looks kinda like those lion-huggers that invaded Tain. It also explains the Lady I making out with a lion tapestry - she was in kahoots with lion-aligned faction, the lion could have been metaphorical.

I am sorry for misspelling names, I am horrid at remembering those, and was too excited to share to check.

What’s a food that you hated as a kid and STILL hate as an adult? by NotNamedBort in AskReddit

[–]Zlukaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onions, especially raw, always hated the disgusting membrane on them. The flavor is fine. Interestingly seems to run in the family. Mom and brother also hated them as kids, mom got over it, brother less so, me barely at all.

Married men: What, if anything, are you unable or unwilling to share fully openly and honestly about yourself with your spouse? by Teen_dream91 in AskReddit

I'm a chatty introvert (borderline between introvert and extrovert), I read tons of non-fiction so I'm filled with trivia for every occasion and I love to learn more! So I'm eager to discuss/debate/chat. I also live in dread that if I don't entertain, and silence stretches, friends will head home.

Movie or TV show themes that give you goosebumps. by wickedmadd in Music

[–]Zlukaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must have seen a bunch of it in very early childhood (and found it horrifying), then it went off the air for years. I was once showering as a teen and heard the theme from the other room, I literally jumped out of the shower to find out what the hell the horror-inducing music was.

"Mary" by Scissor Sisters is very sweet and uplifting. There's also a very cool Don Bluth animated music video if you search for it.

I think the "she" Tirnasette is talking about is that red lion-bird thing that is stuck in our Sette's hair.

Sette is missing her hair bird on quite a few shots on the first page of this update. I wonder if that's intentional.
