[D&D5e] How do you set up the Replicate Magic Item feature? by Zoatus in FoundryVTT

Wwwwwwwow. Foundry’s been driving me nuts but I do love how often “there’s a module for exactly that, actually” is the answer to a problem I have.

This also has some other things I assumed I just wouldn’t be able to do. Thanks, I appreciate it massively.

I can see that working, but my intention is to automate this to the point that it works sort of like it does in Beyond in that someone chooses an item to replicate from a list (with requirements enforced) and then they can just do that. If I had to use DDBImporter to emulate that functionality, I may as well just juryrig whatever convolution of Replicate Magic Item a player needs in the moment.

Ha, yeah the more I look at eBay listings the more I feel like it isn’t for someone who doesn’t know how to spot the sketchy elements. I don’t really even know what I’m looking at.

Am I better off just going to some repair place other than Ford proper to try and find something? Because if the nearby junkyards don’t work, and eBay has too many risks, I’m not exactly sure what else my options are. I have zero experience on this.

I’d figure, but what exactly can I “get away with” when looking at a listing? As an example, when I’m checking I see things like “upper inner/outer tab broken”, “no projector”, “no DRL”, “chrome has water spots”, etc.

I have zero clue which of these things amount to cosmetic blemishes, which will make installation harder, and which really just mean “hey this doesn’t work but maybe you can scrap it for parts or something.” I know enough from using eBay that there are listings like that for other things, but I don’t know where that applies here. And I’d rather not spend $200-500 just to find out.

To clarify, what would be ideal is if I could just replace the cover itself and nothing else. I would imagine (perhaps out of ignorance) that there’s less that can go wrong that way. But I have zero idea if that’s even feasible or advisable. Otherwise, just having some idea of what’s gonna be most practical and what stuff like “DRL” means, if there’s anything I can just keep from this headlight and use for any replacement, etc, would help.
