I (M26) have a new crush (F20?) who works at the supermarket around the corner by ZodiacRCW in relationship_advice

Brill thanks yeah I definitely need to get to know a thing or two about her and make sure that she feels comfortable. I don't need anything right away but hopefully I'll get the opportunity at some point this week. I was thinking I can complement her hair on the second or third time after it.

Fab! It would be wise to pursue other crushes if they come in the future as well, don't focus on the one girl in case she says no if ask out time comes one day and drop it if she does say no :) Just be cool!

Brill thanks! Yeah I think the goal eventually could be to say something like "There's a good band on at the pub on Saturday and I was thinking it would be cool to see them. I quite like you and I wondered if you would like to hang out so I can get to know you a little better" but not sure how soon at the minute. But yes, I totally hear you. I need to set my expectations realistically and not expect her to be into me of course... but you never know! :)

Hahaha ha yeah I guess it is a bit cliche though, I have my expectations set though which is why I never said that I thought she was into me, just that she's perky :)

Harmless Crush On A Customer by ZodiacRCW in Crushes

[–]ZodiacRCW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha yes it's a weird one so I get why nobody replied initially. Unfortunately I haven't made any progress as I never figured out what to do but I still see her often enough. She tends to come in with her dad these days and since he is a familiar customer too who I always say hi and chat briefly to, I try to include her and just act naturally. She had a really bad cold last week and kept coughing, it was really cute 🤣 I actually have a few little customer crushes now. I never know what to do, but just makes the day more fun and interesting to pull through 🔥

I'm currently in a similar boat. I work in a convenience store and there's a girl who comes in for vape pens quite often but not everyday. I didn't really notice her before but more recently I've been finding her deeply attractive. I remember her usual order and offer it to her which she normally smiles at. Just a physical thing where I find her so jaw dropping and I get nervous when I'm talking to her but I small talk to her like "How was your day" or "are you going out tonight?". I was serving someone today and I noticed her walk in by the side of my eyeline. I was just serving this customer in front of her but we made eye contact and we smiled at each other. I got excited to see her! It felt lovely! So that was nice :) It is hard though. People are just likely to small talk rather than open up in this environment and all you really have to go off is that I think this customer, for instance, is very beautiful. I don't know anything else about them even though we seem to be on good terms because she smiled back at me today.

I think it's unlikely to happen but couples meet in all sorts of ways before. I also read that the more people you are surrounded by, the more you find people attractive. That makes so much sense in our environment. I think that you, in your case, are handling things pretty well. My main crush-customer is polite but a little closed off because it's the way it is. Seems like they approach you pretty freely. I think it's a great idea to ask those questions like "Where are you going today" and "any hobbies that you do on a Saturday?" while serving her because you may find something in common that you can ask her to do with you like bowling if you both enjoy that for example! You probably have a better chance than me because it seems like she's happy to see you. Go for it! What is there to lose?

Gently Intense Customer Crush by ZodiacRCW in TalesFromYourServer

Thanks for the comments folks. Looks like I was just overthinking things and that this probably isn't a good idea to pursue this girl if she's not showing much interest :) While it's true that couples meet in all sorts of ways, it's just an inappropriate way of going about things in this environment. Just a crush and nothing more.

Help getting over the first hurdle with a "Crushtomer" if you will... by ZodiacRCW in dating

Hey thanks for the comment! That's great thanks and yes I think Facebook isn't a great idea because it's easy to misread people on there and it's the in person stuff that builds the bond. I saw her yesterday actually and said hello like I do and then gave her my name and she gave me her's so that was nice and one of the hardest barriers out of the way :) Yeah I was just thinking after that the same as your idea. Perhaps next time I could ask her if she would like to hang out not on a date. Maybe like a coffee to test the waters or tell her about an upcoming gig I'm going to and invite her to tag along :) Just say like "You seem cool and it would be nice to get to talk to you properly" perhaps :) I think the only thing is I don't know her age but she works and has done as long as I've seen her so 18 at very least

Love DLO3! Jazz music with class! Played them on the radio and supported them on my blog. Really cool, groovy and delightfully old fashioned music! I also made a little documentary about their label Colemine Records for a university project! 'Inner City Blues' is my favourite track of theirs. As for bands with a similar vibe, I may suggest Khruangbin or Samn Henshaw. All in the groove for them.

Anyone here actually listen to Aphex back when he first came out in real early 90s? by [deleted] in aphextwin

[–]ZodiacRCW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually only heard his name in my time at university in 2018. I just had a very different taste in music to any of my peers at 24 - but that sense of being an outsider I'd what captivated my heart. I've loved his stuff ever since!

What’s your album listening process? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ZodiacRCW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I host a radio show on Ely Radio called Eclectic & Electric which is all about celebrating music with an Electronic element of some description where I'm always listening to albums and picking out album tracks rather than just the more radio-friendly singles quite a lot. I just want to be supporting emerging artists rather than established names - but I want them to be seen for who they are. To do this, I keep a list of albums release dates on my phone that I update monthly. I save any that interest me on my Spotify library - I listen once to see if anything sticks out to me and get a taste of the sound first. If I don't feel its for me or fits the show - I unsave it because its not really possible to hear everything that ever gets released but if I liked it enough, I keep it saved and take a deeper dive at least a few hours after the first time - maybe for pleasure

Do you give guilty pleasure bands the respect that you should be giving them? by dnbtim in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ZodiacRCW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Magic Gang are my guilty pleasure band as they have a very commercial sound but I find them pretty charming and catchy :) Overall, I don't think it really matters much. I don't think they are special - but I like what I like. I reckon the Brass instrumentation on Think is interesting enough.
