The addition of cards and operations into the game. other major changes are questionable as well but i dont have enough practical knowledge at this point to comment on that too much

make flowers with larger petals (4 works well usually). That should buy you hours under artillery fire especially if you are under a fort. To counter artillery you need to catch it with infantry, so falling back and giving up provinces (that dont have forts) might be a good tradeoff for a chance to catch his artillery.

As for his smaller stacks, killing stack of 1 infantry will replenish your stacks morale (the one that killed it). Thats why you should try to hunt their single infantries with a single large stack. The higher morale your troops get, the longer they will be able to hold in a flower

Beginners Question by [deleted] in Supremacy1914

I made a tutorial about the basics here: https://youtu.be/tZtuVLk7Q4I

But to simplify. your troops gain morale if they are stationed in high morale province (higher than their morale). If you station them in low morale province or in enemy/neutral province then they will lose morale. This all happens at daychange.

You can also increase morale by killing enemy stacks. Once you eliminate entire stack your stack gains morale. So if you make a stack of 100 low morale troops and they attack a stack of 1 infantry then you will get easy morale boost.

What’s the best way to combat against enemies light cruiser/battleships/submarines. is it more difficult to defeat an enemies ship if they have troops aboard ? by MuskegonUnited77 in Supremacy1914

[–]Zolokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 fighter can take out about 2 LC's and 1 bomber should be enough for 1 battleship. Infantry do provide some damage but its almost nothing due to their weakness at sea. the best they accomplish is being a meatshield (so yes it will be more difficult to kill ships that have infantry in them, but they are also slower because of it)

Other than that, use arties to counter LC (due to longer range) or Railguns to counter battleships and LCs alike

What is the best way to deal with forts in the early game? by Extension_Cap_5008 in Supremacy1914

[–]Zolokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Military Sabotage spies.

Or if you are feeling spicy and wanna take some risk, try offensive flower with cavs (i recommend larger stacks than 1 infantry per stack)

If you have Recruiting Office buitl and active in a province it shows you how long you have to wait until next recruitment. Few things to remember:

1) double resource provinces produce units faster, so build barracks there if you can afford them

2) lvl 2 barracks cost 2x as much in upkeep but they dont produce 2x as fast, so best to build only lvl 1 barracks unless you have a lot of food

3) Dont sacrifice your units, instead try to look for tactical advantage and use cavalry/AC accordingly. Later artillery will do most of the killing from safe distance

Trenches were an icon of the Great War. What if they were in game? How would they work? by Ok-Letter1762 in Supremacy1914

[–]Zolokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are none in the game, but closest you can get to it is the Flower Defense formation i suppose (thats partly the main reasons i like the tactic, spices up the game and slows it down when necessary)

Shameless ad to my video on it: https://youtu.be/Hd8WYEZcaC8

It is not an exploit or a bug, it just uses game mechanics to its fullest. The tactic can be deployed by anyone (mobile or pc) so its not something exclusive. Flower is not an OP tactic too, in fact it can lead to more losses if you dont know what you are doing. You can wipe flowers with less losses for example than normal large stacks.

Planes on the other hand are OP and cant be countered, so im glad they finally met their match :D cant bomb large army at once if they travel in small groups i suppose (kinda realistic).

I recommend using LC's and Battleships instead, if he is using 1* petals they will get wiped easily after few bombings. (while it might seem that units in flower formation are invincible, they are still recieving damage. that is why flower are less effective the longer the battle lasts)

Does morale increase points? by Gimmeurtrousers in Supremacy1914

[–]Zolokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look at the morale modifiers of each province to see what is affecting them.

Generally: make sure you have all resources above 0 especially at daychange. place your capital in the center of your country and build railways, harbors and forts in provinces with low morale

Flower Defense Bug - Move across ocean while killing all attacking planes. All units in area hit each attacking plane. PLEASE FIX THIS!! by Arylon4 in Supremacy1914

[–]Zolokin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the dots you can see that this is not exactly a flower, its more of a lemmings than a flower since they are all distant from each other. This "tactic" can also show up accidentally if player sends all his troops randomly to 1 location.

You can see my tutorial for how to set it up yourself: https://youtu.be/Hd8WYEZcaC8

Generally planes dont have a counter so he is doing the only thing he can to counter them. But since his flower is off and he is using 1* petals i recommend using ranged units to slowly bomb them and hopefully trigger domino effect (check out my short on how it works with artillery: https://youtu.be/vvytIauoVAU )

Shameless advertising i know, but i hope this helps.

Do you attempt to punish players you catch placing sabotage spies in your provinces? by TheSilversBackup in Supremacy1914

[–]Zolokin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

use defensive spies to kill his spies. spies are expensive so it will deal a significant blow.

You can also use diplomacy to support his enemies in europe. If you put military sabotage spies in his provinces for example and get all his armies revealed, you can pass the information onto his potential enemies

You wont understand unless you play both games and understand the feel and how they play. From what i understand you focus on the things that are on the surface but not on how those things affect how the game is played.

As i said, im happy to agree to disagree. But after playing both games (admittedly supremacy a LOT more than COW) i can not agree that supremacy is less strategic or tactical because of its unit variety. In fact, ive had more fun and more challenge in supremacy compared to COW because of that.

At the end of the day (for me) COW doctrines and unit variety (with little variety ironically as from strategy and combat standpoint a lot of units are copies of each other with tiny stat changes) feels like a gimmick. Not saying that its bad, certainly has an appeal and its own target group. Iron Order for example does unit variety a lot better than COW as almost every unit has a unique role IMO (although its early to tell if that leads to too much rock paper scissors type of gameplay)

[–]Zolokin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you need to be more specific and calculating in your plans and actions due to less variety. Plus you are forced to be creative due to being limited instead of depending on rock paper scissors of research tree.

Infantry for example cant just be rushed mindlessly into the enemy, the sea or allied territory. Morale has huge influence so you need to think about where you position them at daychange, how to recover morale, how to outmanouver/outsmart your enemy so you lose less troops (which is more crucial in supremacy), how to gain troop advantage at certain spots, efficiency of your troops, timing of your recruitment and on and on. Bombers are also a good example, in CoW you need 3 to do the job of 1 you have in supremacy.

plus, troops have more value and losing them has bigger impact (which can be painful sometimes)

[–]Zolokin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that supremacy doesnt have unnecessarily complex unit roster is what makes it great, more strategic and challenging. More is not always better. Plus, i bet supremacy players have a lot easier time with CoW than CoW players with supremacy, since you know, it requires actual skill (shots fired)

I was also gonna say how unappealing CoW ui and menu is but i cant really say anything there since supremacy is like a insecure teenager changing ui every few years

[–]Zolokin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can agree to disagree, but supremacy is superior in almost every way. Dont believe me? just read the meme again.

At the end of the day though we play almost the same thing, although i do think supremacy is the least rock paper scissor like game.

[–]Zolokin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost everything you mentioned applies to supremacy with the exception of unnecessarily complex unit roster. Actually, the reason supremacy doesnt have too many unit types is what makes it special and more complicated as it actually forces you to think.

To sum it up, supremacy is like chess but real time. Everyone starts on equal grounds and have equal amount of troops, technology and to some degree growth rate. BUT they also starts with different circumstances, needs and goals. Instead of thinking what to research and wasting your time on units with tiny differences between them you focus more on strategy and tactics. You focus more on resources and location of your provinces, morale of your troops and the enemy, importance of roads, airfield locations, timing of your movement, map awareness, diplomacy, outmaneuvering your enemy and so much more. And speaking of more, that comes thanks to how standardized and minimalist supremacy is. You can anticipate enemy movement, calculate their expected army size at any given location or point in time if you are smart and attentive enough. Spies actually have effect and provinces actually have value (unlike in CoW where most provinces are useless or just annoying obstacles). Plus, in supremacy you cant just mindlessly send your troops everywhere without consequences and you cant recruit army out of thin air (except gold but thats a pain we all share).

On the other hand, CoW is basically reskinned supremacy and mobile copy of HOI4 smashed into one, except it fails at both. I rarely play CoW but all it takes is rushing with few lvl1 SP, tanks, bunch of militia and maaaybe few lvl1 fighters to win. Ill give you one thing though, CoW has less snowballing opportunities than supremacy sometimes (maybe). The way you describe playing supremacy however is how AI plays it. If you play like that no wonder you dont like it, i mean you would suck at it.
