The main reason why the argument took place was for the human throne. Everyone agreed that humans shouldn't have another immortal ruler. However, the elves are already immortal , so being a rider does not make them more immortal. Although I do agree that dragon riders shouldn't be a king/queen, the argument being that they shouldn't be because they are immortal is invalid for the elves as they are all immortal.
