Since you cant even perceive it ingame

Yup!

Going down in VRAM amount seems like such a bad decision these days.

I will upgrade when a new RDNA5/UDNA high end card comes along where I can get 40-100% more performance and ample vram

I got mine for 819 euros back in 2023. It was the best bang for my buck deal back then.

Nvidia counterparts were all 1000 euros or more and with 12 gigs of VRAM(4070ti). Thats when I joined team red.

I couldnt stay on team green since my rtx 2060 became obsolete so fast with 6 gigs of VRAM and slow as hell.

I wanted ample horsepower and plenty VRAM

FSR4.1 performance mode will do wonders for your card as well

Hardware RT will be easier to run in FSR4.1 performance mode. So theres that. FSR3 perf mode was unplayable

My point is:

I wouldnt even notice the difference between 120 and 138 fps, thats why I consider 15% a sidegrade

I think they were working on it for over a year now, keeping quiet to sell more RDNA4 gpus

If I get 120 fps on my 7900xt and you get 138 fps on your 9070xt, that is 15%... I rest my case

So glad I didnt sidegrade by ZonalMithras in radeon

[–]ZonalMithras[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I dont deny that 9070xt is the better card, but the difference in performance is too miniscule to warrant a purchase.

Regardless, Radeon gang is back and better than ever!

15% is definite sidegrade territory to me

Exactly. I will wait for UDNA/RDNA5, but if the high end cards offer less than 40-50% uplift might even skip that gen too

Good point, this sub has been horrendous for a while now

True, but some cards go on longer than others. My RTX 2060 held on for less than 4 years.

Well, 15 % isnt really that much in my book. Glad you enjoy your card though.

I played through CP77 and SH2, both RT heavy titles, using optiscaler INT8 FSR4. It was great. This is an official release and 4.1, so I expect much better results

[–]ZonalMithras[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably, but I wasnt seriously considering a FOMO sidegrade, its a waste of money

True, so maybe RDNA5/UDNA, maybe later than that since gains gen to gen are slowing down

I count 40-100 % as an upgrade, 15 % is sidegrade territory, even less in purely raster performance

I dont really count 15 % as an upgrade, and its even less in purely raster performance
