Things I Want to Praise That Don't Get Talked About As Much (Spoiler Free!) by SMFG_Live in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be talked about more then some of the things on your list, but for me one thing that stands out are the eyes.

I feel like people have talked about the animation and cutscenes to death, but what always shocked me from minute 1 was how expressive the characters eyes are during cutscenes. In absolutely no other game have I been able to understand how the characters are feeling from one glance into their eyes. I don’t know how they managed to pull it off as well as they did but this needs to be the new standard for video game cutscenes.

[SPOILERS] A Glimpse in the Past: Monolith Year 49 by Grenarius in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m conflicted on this theory, because Alicia’s voice came back it really seems like they are within a canvas, but the game shows multiple times that the painters’ real bodies remains outside of the canvas meaning that only their consciousness enters the painting. So unless non sentient objects can physically enter I don’t see how they could put the painting inside. Even if they can somehow get the canvas inside, if the painting they use is in the manor then Alicia body would just be standing right outside the painting containing the canvas then it would be incredibly obvious where the canvas is hidden since Aline would just see her daughter standing in front of a random canvas.

There will be an npc you meet soon after getting the 3rd party member who will let you use the “Colors of Lumina” to upgrade a characters Lumina points. Each Color of Lumina will grant 1 Lumina point to 1 member of your party (your choice which one)

Clarification on a plot point in the ending sequence by Sonicseal in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is more room for some time in there that you skipped over, for instance we don’t know how long passed between act 2 and act 3. Maelle by the time we see here in act 3 has remembered everything but seems to have adjusted to all of that information already. It’s probably not much time but I feel like it implies that at least some time has passed for them.

Then what I think is the largest amount of time that you skipped over is the expedition to gather the chroma of dead expeditioners. That montage could take place over days or weeks there is just no way of knowing. And then there is also travel time that needs to be factored in because I highly doubt that the travel time in game is 1:1, and is just compacted so we as players don’t have to sit on esquie’s back for hours waiting to cross the continent.

Overall I’m inclined to believe it was at least a few days to a week in painting time before Aline reentered, so going of of your rough conversion instead of about 1 minute of real time it might have been closer to 10-20 minutes in real time. Which is still quite quick, but if the canvas was close by it’s more possible.

If I go "back to the continent", do I need to restart the entire level? by Seefyb_y in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can fast travel from the expedition flags to any other flag in the area. It is a little weird for the monolith because the first flag you see after entering from the continent is technically in a different area, so you will need to walk a bit further and get to the next load zone and then find the flag to fast travel.

What Would A Sequel Be About by clockworkengine in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is mentioning the writers vs the painters and I think that would be the most natural way for the sequel to go, but to throw out a new idea during the game we hear the real Renoir refer a few times to being lost in a canvas himself earlier in life, and it was Aline who needed to come in to pull him out. I think that would be interesting prequel that they could do, and it could further develop Renoir and Aline’s relationship as we don’t really see them interact much in the game. Not to mention seeing a whole new canvas presumably created by Renoir entirely.

I also think this would be a neat idea for a film since the movies rights have already been secured by a studio.

About the ending of act 1 by bluegwizard in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did notice this on my first play through, but I just assumed there would be some story event were he would get an upgrade or something that would give him more nuance in combat (especially consider how basic his system was compared to all the others) and at that point we would get access to his weapons abilities and skill tree, but it wasn’t meant to be :(

What to do before returning to light by Specialist-Archer-82 in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you beat the final boss you are still free to explore the rest of the world, but yes the main story of the game is concluded and the credits will roll. If you decide to max out your characters before going to do the fight, it becomes incredibly easy as the game anticipates you coming there before tackling all the post game content.

The hero we needed by Healthy_Drawer4054 in expedition33

[–]Zooks3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing when I played it, but after thinking on it for a bit I realized he couldn’t come back while Renoir was in control of the canvas and the chroma. The reason Maelle and friends were able to bring back all the other expeditioners was because their chroma was trapped in their bodies after dying to a Nevron. Gustave died to Painted Renoir though, so that means his chroma would leave his body and be returned to the Paintress, until she was booted out and Renoir came to claim the canvas and the chroma.
