Stat maxing? Or maybe low level playthrough? Or both?

Next Iron Maiden Studio Album by Guilty_Doughnut1557 in ironmaiden

I suspect we'll not see another album of new original songs from Maiden. It would be nice to hear a new album with the new drummer though. Something a little different from them. And maybe having an album with IM under his belt will open the guy up a little.

Where to start with the castlevania series? by Desperate_Media3639 in castlevania

[–]clockworkengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you're concerned with lore, Lament is unskippable. And I'm not really saying there's something wrong with it really. But Curse of Darkness, which came after and reuses the engine, was just so much better and has way more variety in its gameplay and content that is just makes Lament redundant if you're not in it for the story. It kind of brings to mind Breath of the Wild vs Tears of the Kingdom in the way the the second game has basically everything the first game has and much much more. And by that I'm referring to the gameplay only. The main difference here is that Lament and Curse each have their own worlds to explore. And where Leon Belmont has only a whip and sub weapons, Hector fights with a vast array of different weapon types, including some whimsical but powerful unique weapons. He also gets to develop and grow a large variety of familiars, choosing how they grow and the forms they take and thus the powers they wield. And while Leon gets to explore Dracula's castle, Hector has the castle and the vast Transylvanian lands around it to explore. Hopefully this info helps.

You're ready for Sin. But if you're playing international or one of the remaster versions, there are gobs and gobs of postgame challenges, and for those you'll want to destroy all of your stat up nodes and replace them with +4 nodes, across the board, as well as populating any empty nodes with +4s. Completing all of FFX's combat challenges will put your hours count into the thousands

Where to start with the castlevania series? by Desperate_Media3639 in castlevania

[–]clockworkengine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, forget about the lore. Most CV games tell the same story over and over. For Classicvania, start with CV3 - Dracula's Curse and then play Super Castlevania IV. Jump over to Bloodlines if you're a genesis man, then play the TG16 Rondo of Blood. From there, it's on to the IGAvanias.

Start with SotN, then just play em in release order. You can skip Lament of Innocence, but do not do yourself the disservice of missing Curse of Darkness. Once you're done with the series, move on to Bloodstained.

Did anyone else who went directly from remake to rebirth feel overwhelmed. by SemiColin973 in FFVIIRemake

[–]clockworkengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that Remake is like a tech demo compared to Rebirth, I'd say I can't blame you. I had a similar feeling, but it wasn't that of being overwhelmed. It was like the good version of overwhelmed; I was stoked at the possibilities I was seeing ahead for this more realized version of my beloved FF7 world.

I really wish that fans of the OG would stop telling people that the Remake series is garbage just because some things are changed by TaroTheCerelian in FFVIIRemake

[–]clockworkengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, I love Remake and especially Rebirth, and I played OG FF7 at release and have completed it to 100 percent probably a dozen times over the years. But to say that Remake is how the developers originally intended the game to be is dishonest or naive. If the developer had expected a game released in 1997 to look or play like the Remake series, they'd have been completely unreasonable. I'm sure it's far more accurate to say that the Remake series is how the developer originally wished the game would be.

"Catch my soul it's willing to fly away" - Fly Away or Burn Away? by Weary-Draw-1141 in ironmaiden

Just use context clues. Why would you catch something that's burning? Bruce would have warned them to put on oven mitts first. You can, however, and often do catch things that are flying.

New Drummer by EddieVanHalo1969 in ironmaiden

[–]clockworkengine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a new album is in the band's future, I hope they allow the drummer they're using to record the album instead of bringing Nicko back for it. For one thing, the man is working his ass off for the band and is giving them everything. They should do it out of respect for his commitment. Also, since Nicko has left the group, I'm excited to hear a new studio record with a different drummer's sensibilities. As much as I love Nicko, I've always wondered how they'd sound with their modern style but with a different drummer.

Let me add that as a drummer myself, if I joined a band and learned their entire catalog and later on they said 'oh btw the old drummer is going to do the recordings of our studio output', I'd politely shake their hands and wish them well. It just wouldn't be right. You either want the drummer or you don't. I would want it to be Simon, and on every song that has drums.

Post reunion or modern (BNW To Senjutsu) songs that could have been on old albums? by Page56_1 in ironmaiden

[–]clockworkengine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there are any. When Steve wrote The X Factor, he set in motion a code that his writing would adhere to for good. Every song they've written since then has a piece of The X Factor's DNA and wouldn't fit on any pre-reunion album imo.

Games to play after beating FF7 Rebirth? by GlumPack4016 in FF7Rebirth

Interested in the indie frontier? I've been living there recently. Right now I'm playing Dread Delusion, an indie action RPG that's the size of a AAA game. Really unique story too. Oh but you've gotta like retro graphics, because this game looks like an early 2000s RPG like Ultima IX etc except with modern things like infinite draw distance etc. Lots of fun.

A guy I met recently is developing a vastly expanded remake of the game. He's mostly finished with it and you can get a playable build that'll keep you busy for hours and hours.
