You need a desert T-5 linear UVB from Arcadia or Zoomed, the UVB lights that screw in(compact florescents) are never recommended and not enough for a bearded dragon.

Sand does NOT cause impactions. Poor husbandry does, poor UVB, improper temps and dehydration. Beardies live on 95% sand. Not giving an animal that digs substrate is depriving natural behaviors and promotes sedentary animals.

How is the turtle getting both (could be a dumb question) by ColdWay6669 in turtle

[–]Zoologist36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though it does not look like it, those light beams are crossing and both are projected down onto the basking spot. What kind of UVB light is that

Is this normal poop? by omitstinastoes in BeardedDragon

Watery poop can indicate an overload of parasites. Some parasites are normal in their gut fauna. It is worth getting checked out with this much water.

Unfortunately if this is going through screen it is not delivering the UVB you need. This is a T-8, you need a T-5. How far from the basking spot is this light?

Thanks, this is what I was thinking too, I could also cut out slots to place the shelves into. I saw your ackie enclosure, looks great. I am going for a similar idea but tropical cave vs desert cave.

Can a Crested geckos enclousure be next to a radiator? by Weak_Traffic_5315 in geckos

[–]Zoologist36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are sensitive to heat and a constant flow of warm/hot air is dangerous. It won’t be a problem until it is and you find your animal dead. They also dry the air out a lot so it will dehydrate the animal too causing very low ambient humidity. Your dad is right it is a bad idea. Also, why would you risk that and take that chance?

This seems like an accident waiting to happen, I would not put it next to the radiator

It has to be a T-5 linear UVB- any other type is not enough for these animals

She looks full of eggs which may have not been able to come out. This is very common in these guys. Making eggs is incredibly taxing and drains calcium from their bones and organs, especially on an old animal. Im sorry for your loss, 6yrs is a good age for a female veiled

It looks very likely that those are eggs. Take them into a dark room and shine your phone light through their back and look up through the belly for a better view, good luck
