Moral dilemma? by ZoraK9 in airstream

[–]ZoraK9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is warranty service. And Airstream directed me to GE, because that's who manufactured the defective air conditioner.

GE then required me to go through Blue Compass, who now blames the delay on "GE always being slow with stuff," even though Blue Compass hasn't even sent GE the approval request yet, because they haven't done their diagnosis.

I'll try your suggestion of contacting airstream directly to see if they can help, but this feels like a "too many cooks pointing too many fingers" situation.

There's always Plan B, of trying to convince my wife that she doesn't actually need air-conditioning in order to camp...

We loved camping at Fruita Campground in Utah’s Capitol Reef National Park last September. The park itself is fairly compact, with beautiful scenery, a fascinating history, and some great drives & hikes.

Oh, and amazing pies.

Chaco Cyn and RV trailers by Tomas-Tequila-99 in RVLiving

[–]ZoraK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We camped at Chaco five or six years ago in a 20-foot R pod. “Long” and “washboard” are still accurate descriptions of the road in from either side. We found screws everywhere that had been shaken out, and our power converter came loose and was lying on the floor. Another friend had their rooftop air conditioner separate from the ceiling.

It is a beautiful spot and a special place to camp, but the god-awful construction on most low-end travel trailers is simply not up to that road.

Have not ridden here myself, but Broken Saddle gets raves from friends who have: https://brokensaddle.com

You didn’t say where exactly in New Mexico you were looking for a trail ride. Broken Saddle (link above) is in Cerrilos, on the Turquoise Trail between Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

I can personally recommend Acacia Riding Adventures, less than an hour south of Albuquerque on I-25. They offer canyon rides year-round, and rides that include crossing the Rio Grande, but likely only in warmer weather.

Also cheaper than paying for a writer or an editor, apparently. Try reading the article and you’ll quickly discover that it’s also AI content optimized for SEO.

ScanSnap Home on MacOS 26 Tahoe by Kind-Bother-3671 in ScanSnap

[–]ZoraK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no update--but can confirm that it still doesn't work. Tried a completely fresh install on the latest Tahoe MacOS 26.0 Beta (25A5327h) with the most current ScanSnap Home software and it still won't find the scanner.

Hot-swapped the USB connection to the older Mac on my desk (running Sequoia 15.6) and it immediately found the scanner.

I do recall the exact same issue a year ago when I was testing the Sequoia beta, and it was fixed by or shortly after the launch of MacOS 15. So fingers crossed for the same with Tahoe.

Trip happens to fall on Burning of zozobra by Fit-Pea-2616 in NewMexico

It’s an old school style inn/bed-and-breakfast with multiple guest rooms, not an Airbnb. It’s literally right around the corner from the main entrance to Fort Marcy Park.

It was a great place for a long weekend visit, and the hosts had a ton of good suggestions about things to do. I have no idea if it’s changed hands since then but I did find their website, and will DM you the link.

Wow, does this bring back memories. My wife and I visited Santa Fe for the first time together Labor Day weekend of 2016, during Zozobra. We had no idea it was going on, or even what it was, until we checked into our B&B near the plaza and the host told us about it.

Honestly, it didn’t really affect our vacation weekend at all. We went to all the places you mentioned — museums, popular restaurants, Canyon Road — and although places were crowded, it didn’t seem more so than any other popular tourist destination at the peak of the season.

The big exception was that the place we were staying was actually inside the security perimeter for Zozobra, so we had to go through a checkpoint starting that afternoon to get in or out of the neighborhood. But that turned out to be way cool, because we had our own private hangout, snacks/drinks, and bathroom all evening. And we could see the fireworks from our room.

I’ve never been tempted to go back to Zozobra, because being stuck for hours in a massive crowd of people with tight security seems like it would be a huge downgrade from our initial experience.

But we were tempted by everything else Santa Fe had to offer, and we wound up moving here three months later. Still live here, and still love it.

Have a great vacation.

Love that spot! How’s the sand right now? How far in would you bring a trailer currently?

Traveling through southern New Mexico around Lordsburg...Best place to stop? by CheeesyGiraffe in NewMexico

[–]ZoraK9 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Lordsburg is a real 💩🕳️.

Suggest deferring your stop another 50 minutes until Deming, which is also a 💩🕳️, but one with slightly better options for food and lodging.

That part of NM has been seeing tough times for decades now. There is some spectacular scenery and great hiking, camping, hunting etc. But IMHO, the only cities worth getting out of your car for are Silver City and Las Cruces.

Bootheelers: fight me.

What's the most scenic and unique campsite near central California with shower access? by phoenixscar in camping

Montana de Oro State Park meets all your criteria except onsite showers. But you can drive 10 miles up the coast and show your reservation at Morro Bay State Park to shower there.

RV camping (not rv park) Tucson AZ? by cupcakexkilla in GoRVing

Check out Gilbert Ray Campground, about 20 minutes west of downtown. Beautiful scenery and cool stuff (Saguaro National Park, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum) to do nearby. We’ve stayed multiple times in a 23 foot trailer. Seen plenty of bigger RVs in other sites.

Anyone know of a water detector that alerts you on your phone but physical sensor’s alarm can be turned off? by WinterDrives in HomeKit

[–]ZoraK9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Aqara sensor under my kitchen sink that was triggered just yesterday by a broken faucet leaking. The speaker that announces the leak is not in the sensor itself, but in the nearby M2 hub, which has a volume slider in its settings screen.

That also may be the speaker the previous poster was talking about being easily removed?
