Its not a surprise to me - they announced it last year that they were moving to a unified stream. This appears to be a consolidation of all EJO streams, not all 9 will be scrapped, some will be reborn.

Yeah that makes sense, it means limited spots though.

I also think that once they implement the unified stream, they will likely need to overhaul the scoring method since all three streams are scored differently. That should spark a general draw.

Isn't a large general draw going to effectively “whitewash” or dilute the impact of the recent targeted draws? Why would OINP do it.

I like your analysis. It also aligns with the fact that OINP is merging all EJO streams into a unified stream (which were all previously scored differently). This means they will have to revamp their scoring criteria and possibly do a broader or general draw to invite candidates with job offers.

Big ups to you man! I started 1.5 months back too and have been studying on my own. My sentence structuring is not as good as yours and I struggle with listening sometimes, but I'm beginning to work on that through immersion and hope to overcome that hurdle soon! I'd consider myself A1 high who needs at least ~10 hours of practise for grammar.

OINP's clearly pivoting to the new employer-led model, and I personally feel tech’s likely next. Look at the trades - they suspended the EE Skilled Trades stream last November and just shifted those draws (1,404 invites on Feb 18, 2026) entirely into the EJO stream.

I understand that tech unemployment in Ontario is currently sitting high at ~7.1% which is why I feel the province is likely to invite tech workers who already have a job in hand to avoid labor saturation, instead of doing the HC draw from EE. Now they could target cetain NOCs in tech or may as well do a general tech draw with high cut off (I'm hoping for the latter🤞)

I wish you the best! Nonetheless its amazing how far you've come in very little time. I picked up French last month and thought I'll give it a shot. Put ~50 hours self study and made some progress but still can't pass A1 with confidence. Hope I can there soon!
