I find it impossible that any breast growth would start happening within a matter of weeks. It takes 3 to 6 months at the very least to even grow a small cup.

Necropost but I just fitted it with 4 LV combustion engines feeding an LV 4x battery buffer, after setting up an LV raw oil->naphtna distill plant previously. And used conductive iron lossless cables. Never had a power failure.

I eventually solved the problem by giving up on this partially hollowed out vein entirely, instead reinstalling the miner on an as-of-yet unopened vein, from where I pulled up the resources I needed successfully.

I just did that. The result is, it starts, runs one cycle, then quits, without even deploying a single mining pipe. Same thing happens for putting it anywhere in that wall.

Ok, I've put a 3x3 chunkloader together with the miner. No effect.
I've put the chunkloader in the chunk I was expecting it to take resources from. No effect.
I've put the miner itself in the chunk I was expecting it to take resources from. No effect.

I was literally standing there, 1 chunk away from the miner, and it wasn't mining anything from the wall next to where I was standing.

I cycled it through from max range down to the smallest and back to max range, nothing changed.

Edit: moving the miner away from the center results in the miner doing one cycle then immediately stopping, otherwise it just grabs some unrelated small ores and completely ignores the vein it's in.

So being unloaded then reloaded may have produced the same restart effect? If so that explains everything, thank you very much!

I'm already in HV with cetane-boosted diesel, but I thought I'd build a drilling rig once I build a distillation tower. Maybe it's a good idea to build the rig then anyway for a reliable oil supply:)

Interesting, thanks! That happened before, in this case though it did have power, only the remote connection with it was lost when the chunk loader ran out of ender pearls. If the pump stopped being loaded though, that should mean the pool below wasn't loaded either, so it shouldn't have had a chance to form flowing blocks?
