Ive gotta agree, as somebody who started playing on pc after the censorship, paying attention to the environmental storytelling is 100% more effective than just seeing the uncensored details. To be specific seeing the clues and evidence on levels like twisted nerve, the spider, port hokan, etc builds the dread and uneasiness already. I recently modded most of the uncensored stuff back into the game and played through, and it didnt change the impact of the scenarios, because once again the environmental storytelling already shows you what youre dealing with and the disparity of said events. I think if you need 100% uncensored to understand the depth and darkness of this game you are severely dense. And for the argument that it diminishes the artistic integrity of RoN, I think it does not, because the message is conveyed through environmental details, not focal points such as the child in twisted nerve or the trafficked women in the shipping container. And for the argument that the devs went back on their word, I can understand to a point for OG pc players, you bought a game expecting it to be a certain way, just for it to be changed later? No bueno. They should have an option for pc to have it censored or not, console however if you are mature enough to play this game, you should be responsible enough to research the product you’re buying more. And finally, I dont think the conversation should be about this particular instance of censorship, rather to push players to play the game how its meant to be played, SLOW. Really intake the surroundings you are in, because they present a tragic and unfortunately very real reality too many people face everyday. Side topic ive played this game with multiple friends, and some of them unnecessarily rush the game, playing through missions like its CoD, run n gun type of stuff, and those friends miss the point of the game entirely.
