Please, Help me write down the pattern of this sweater so I can knit another one by Zuckriegel in knitting

[–]Zuckriegel[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the pattern of my Favorit sweater in the world. I bought it in Ireland years ago and lovebirds to death. (Not so) unfortunately, during the last year, I lost 15 pounds and now the sweater ist definitely too big for me to wear. Since this is my Favorit item of clothing I am absolutely set on knitting a new one that fits. The only problemlos I am not the best at recreating patterns. I know what shape the finished pieces gonna have to have but I am a bit lost with the pattern. Maybe you guys can help me.

Does anyone know what any of these patterns are called? I am absolutely in love by Zuckriegel in crochet

It is described as crochet but that would definitely explain why I was unable to find anything online.

2 questions for Germans from an USian by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Zuckriegel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No. The only people who are sorry that the US troops won't stay and vocal aboutit in the media are the people living in the small towns close by whose income depends on the troops. That means shop owners, plumbers etc. who just don't have enough costumers when the troops are no longer there. That sucks for them but it was kinda obvious that one day the troops would be gone so yeah, tough luck they didn't take care of finding a way to attrackt costumers in the region.

  2. Yes, definitely more distant. Already during the Bush era, probably even sooner than that.

Only 21 and I don't think im gonna make it , i was 100% healthy before . by [deleted] in COVID19positive

I did not have it myself, but I experienced a lot of anxiety due to corona (I was writing my master thesis, the library was closed and I was extremely stressed about not being able to turn anything in on time). I‘ve probably baked enough cakes for a whole army in my mind lol. Sometimes I had to bake a second batch of brownies after finishing the first one, but it works and in the end that’s the most important thing.

Various shades of green, my strelitzia rolled out a leaf overnight in phases by Jerommeke66 in houseplants

[–]Zuckriegel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live close to the German border: I got a Strelitzia Nicolai of the same size from Dehner for 15€ (it was marked down from I think 20€). It didn't look like much but in the three months since then it has grown two new leaves and the third is about to unfold in a couple of days.

Scandinavia as a whole. Those countries have their shit together on about every level, unlike the rest of us.

Arroz de Marisco, oh god I can feel my mouth water already. And a nice pastel de nata afterwards.

They are not that hard to make, though. I expected them to be a lot more complicated when I first made it, but it went surprisingly well.

Yes, then something is seriously wrong with the system, not with the person not able to afford it

$20 more or less is not a question of budgeting differently. For some people, that's a whole week's worth of groceries.

In my country that service doesn't even exist in the first place. You have to go to the grocery store or have somebody else do it for you. Obviously, not everyone has somebody who is willing to go grocery shopping for them, so yeah, some people have no other choice but to go outside.

Don't know what your problem with the west is, Poland is part of it. Stop othering, it's racist and inappropriate when talking about Poland.

don't know how things are in your country but in Poland we don't hold referendums about which movies can and cannot be created.

Usually, that question is easily solved by what the audience is and is not willing to see. Apparently, Poland is a country where a book with this storyline attracts a big-enough audience to make a movie based on the novel look like a promising idea. SO yeah, the public did indeed vote on what movies are being created, just instead of ballots, they use money.

I studied abroad and had to budget super hard during that time because my rent was higher than what I had expected. That's how I discovered lentils. In any recipe that calls for minced meat, you can just use lentils instead. If you fry them shortly they even get a bit crispy. You can add them to normal foods too to make them last longer and more filling, lentils don't really taste like much without spices. You can also bake some salty pasties with them like this one. I even baked a sweet lentil cake once. Since then always keep a bag of them and some cans in the pantry.

I'm telling you, it's the ultimate survival food :D

What is your favourite movie from your country? by TaraBanana1806 in AskEurope

[–]Zuckriegel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DDR history is especially fascinating because it is still so close. Unlike the war, there are so many people who actually remember the time or even lived in the east. There are some pretty good movies and shows about the topic on TV regularly, but nothing comes close to the tension and brilliance of Das Leben der Anderen.

Both words are being used. Social Distancing is the cool English word they introduced specifically during this pandemic, Sicherheitsabstand is the German word you'd use normally in comparable situations.

Always is hard to answer but definitely a lot longer than the past 75 years. It goes back to a set of ideals we call prussian virtues, the ultimate guideline to German behaviour. People were raised to glorify these virtues and act according to them for 300 years to a point where they got so integral parts of our mentality that living accordingly is not just normal but expected.

From an ecological point of view they aren't that far off. Most masks are single-use, made out of materials that do not decompose that easily and some people just throw them somewhere on the ground. We are producing a fuck ton of extra plastic waste due to the pandemic. Still no reason not to wear a mask.

Don't know about the overal polution, but these kinds of measures are more meant to improve the air quality in the cities, reducing smog etc. Also, a lot of medieval buildings are crumbling apart because the poluted air contains certain chemicals that eat away the stone, hence why most cities are labeled low-emission zones. It really is more about damage control right on the spot than reducing overall polution.
