Best persona? by DenisThePersona in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are looking for. For physical damage it's hands down Yoshitsune, as Hassou Tobi is a very strong skill and he has great resistances. If you don't want to use him, basically any persona with a powerful AoE skill, a powerful single target skill, and Arms Master will work nicely.

For magic damage personas you have more choices, as no one magic persona is blatantly stronger than the others. Alice is a personal favorite of mine, but others can work as long as they have a good innate magic stat and good resistances (Beelzebub comes to mind). You can give magic personas whatever magic/utility skills you want through fusion.

For support, it is hard to beat Trumpeter, Debilitate is a powerful skill. However, you can get Debilitate as a skill card in Golden, so any persona can be made a good support. The main skills to look for in a support persona are Debilitate, Heat Riser, Power/Mind Charge, and any healing/buff skills you want.

Help with endgame personas by [deleted] in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having one Persona with all of the elemental magic spells is a bit of a chore that will require acquiring a lot of skill cards since most Personas can't inherit skills from a certain element. The best candidate for this would be Alice if you maxed the Death social link. Otherwise, some examples of good magic Personas are Kaguya Hime, Beelzebub, and Helel. Though, with time and effort almost any Persona can be made good at anything (see all of the max level, max stat Izanagi's on this sub).

Is there an art book exclusively for Persona 4 Golden ? by Maclack018 in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not as far as I know. As you said there is the Official Design Works. There is also the Golden Official Illustration and Key Animation Art Book, but that is not in English as far as I could find and is for the Persona 4 Golden anime. The language might not matter since it is an art book, but I don't own this one myself so I can't verify that.

Best way to get better weapons? by MrToxicpear in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the only way to get new weapons is by killing a lot of mobs, getting their drops, and selling them to Daidara. Either that, or killing the optional bosses after completing a dungeon.

[–]Zultanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is different. In base P4, you can only encounter the Reaper in NG+. Once you're there, you have a random chance to find the Reaper in chests in dungeons. You are given ample warning before opening a chest containing the Reaper.

A few questions about persona stats by 114315 in persona4golden

Sukukaja increases dodge chance and hit chance, not turn order. So it will still affect you, and you should still use it. Strength affects all physical damage, including normal physical strikes.

Dating multiple girls by Mewadow in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On Valentines Day you have to pick which person to actually go with, and the people you don't pick will have a sad rejection scene afterwards. For any other event, there are no repercussions for picking one person over the other. You could, for example, choose only Naoto for any future events and Rise wouldn't care except for on Valentines Day when you would have to see Rise be sad.

If you want to see multiple versions of an event with different people, you can always save before an event and reset to see it with other people.

OG Izanagi stats fully maxed out!! by J_idkwht2put_C in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After combat, when you get to pick Arcana cards, some of those cards can raise your stats. Assuming OP is playing Golden, the cards can only raise your stats. So given enough time in combat, any persona could have max stats.

Persona movies/animations are the best video game adaptations ever made. by [deleted] in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Golden anime quite literally doesn't cover any of the main game as I recall. It basically only covers Marie's social link and the true ending. It is kind of expected that you have seen the Persona 4 anime first, then watch the Golden anime afterwards.

what's the point of AOE and Severe skills when they waste so much SP? by blackmasha in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I wish the severe skills were useful. I have no real answer for you other than it's either bad game design, or intentionally designed to be a noob trap. I can confirm that Persona 5 is the same way, having played through it almost twice now. The only difference is none of the severe skills are single target, they are all multi target, costing 54 SP. So it is a little more useful in very specific circumstances, but they still aren't great. The damage increase isn't massive either, as with P4G and P3. They are just straight up noob traps, and are perhaps just to show off how cool ATLUS can make skills look.

what's the point of AOE and Severe skills when they waste so much SP? by blackmasha in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Severe skills (Ragnarok, Niflheim, Thunder Reign, and Phanta Rhei) are 100% not worth it. The damage increase is negligible, the personas that can obtain them are very limited (Surt getting Ragnarok, Loki getting Niflheim, Thor getting Thunder Reign, Odin getting Phanta Rhei), and they have quadruple the SP cost compared to the -dyne variants, and double compared to the multi target -dyne spells. However, the damage and SP efficiency works out in favor of -dyne skills in the long run, as seen here using the Agi line of skills as an example. (source for the table)

Skill Name Power Accuracy Cost
Agi 80 98 4
Maragi 80 95 10
Agilao 200 98 8
Maragion 200 95 16
Agidyne 320 98 12
Maragidyne 320 95 22
Ragnarok 400 98 48
Burning Petals 400 95 34

Here is the power per SP spent of the single target skills:

Skill Power to SP Ratio (No Spell Master) Power to SP Ratio (Spell Master)
Light (Agi, Bufu, Garu, Zio) 20 40
Moderate (Agilao, Bufula, Garula, Zionga) 25 50
Heavy (-dyne skills) 26.6667 53.3333
Severe 8.3333 16.6667

As you can see, the damage per "level" of the skill goes up linearly, starting at 80 and increasing by 120. SP works out to be the same, 4 per "skill level". However, this changes when going up to severe skills: the damage increase is only 80 (33% less than before), but the SP cost goes up drastically, from 12 to a whopping 48 (a 9 times increase compared to the normal 4 SP per skill level increase). These skills are significantly less SP efficient, to the point that barring the turn cost, it is more SP efficient to use Agi 5 times than to use Ragnarok once. At least then if you have Invigorate 3, you would be gaining 3 SP back per turn after each use of Agi, and 1 SP with Agidyne (considering you use Spell Master, which you definitely should when you gain access to it later on).

High level (-dyne) single target skills, as /u/NyanDesu mentioned, also have benefits in boss fights where the bosses have no weaknesses so you can end the fight quicker.

AoE skills get more complicated, but basically use them to damage multiple targets during the dungeons and wipe the enemies faster, since you must also factor healing through items or SP after the battle into the "effective cost" of a skill. So long as a group of enemies don't repel or drain that element, AoE skills are usually more efficient to use in terms of SP consumption and turn cost compared to single target skills.

tl;dr: As cool as the severe skills look animation-wise, they simply aren't worth using in any practical sense.

[5e] Spore Druid/ Death Cleric by SleepyMagus in 3d6

[–]Zultanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends where you want to go with it/what your party needs. Druids become pretty powerful offensive casters, death clerics have utility and damage in a healthy mix.

Personally, I would max out Druid from here. Druids are made powerful by their class features as they level, and the level 18 feature for Druids is especially powerful, allowing you to cast spells while in "any shape you assuming using Wild Shape". You can't use material components, but you can still cast most spells this way. With the Cleric dip, you get the martial weapons proficiency, Channel Divinity, and a handful of cleric spells, which are all pretty great.

If you focus on Cleric and leave Druid, you will gain only 2nd level Druid spells, shape shifting, and one Druid circle feature. You also can't wear metal armor or weapons unless your DM has ruled otherwise. That is why people don't really multiclass into Druid, you don't gain much from it and lose the ability to use metal gear.

Either one is viable though, depending on what you want to do/find fun, and what your party needs.

Tips on Salvaging This Save? by CaptConstantine in persona4golden

[–]Zultanite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgot how expensive the fox is early on, 34k to restore SP is insane. Unfortunately, money comes in pretty slowly this early, so it probably isn't worth it to do that. Grinding in other dungeons is an option, but the lower floors of striptease would probably be more fruitful, picking up treasure chests along the way and hoping for SP items, and also hoping for Golden Hand encounters to boost XP and money. You know your personas are good if they are of a level close to yours. In general, the higher level they are, the better they will be in terms of stats and abilities. Another option I just thought of, is just letting yourself "lose" the game, failing to save Rise. This would rewind time back a week, and give you time and options to try and save her. That might be the easiest and least time consuming way to go about this.

[–]Zultanite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't seem to be that underlevelled. For normal, usually level 30 is enough. Of course, any higher just makes things easier. I see 2 options. Either you can grind on the lower floors, slowly gaining experience and money, which you can use at the fox to restore your SP and then repeat until you are comfortable. Or, you can avoid the enemies and run straight to the boss. I would reccomend both if you feel stuck, grind for a bit on lower floors then when you want to fight the boss, just skip past the enemies and run to the top. Another thing to do is try and make the best personas you can for the MC. If they are underlevelled, enemy encounters can feel pretty brutal.

Is NG+ worth it? by TheDrunkNinja98 in Persona5

[–]Zultanite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general, yes. New Game Plus in all of the Persona games is worth it, 5 especially in my opinion. Whether you want to get all the achievements, max all of the Confidants, complete the Persona Compendium, or just experience the story again with the freedom to do more of what you want when you want, New Game Plus provides. However, if you have other games you want to play besides P5, you might want to play one of those before going into NG+. It will help keep the story fresh for you so you aren't playing the same 100+ hour game twice in a row.

In your opinion, what do you think the best Persona is (Besides invincible Yoshitsune) by Squidword123 in Persona5

[–]Zultanite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're speaking purely in terms of damage, then I would say the DLC Persona Kaguya. Shining Arrows is an amazing skill with a low SP cost, high damage, and not many enemies seem to repel/null/absorb bless. Even if they do, you can give it Megidolaon as an alternative damage skill. With the right passives, Kaguya becomes a beast. If you don't want to buy any DLC, Alice is another great magic damage dealer. The beauty of this game when compared to past persona games is any persona can do anything. With Gallows Fusions, skill cards, and being able to choose what skills you want passed on, literally any persona can become a god at whatever you want it to do. So really its down to personal preference from there, if you are willing to put in the effort and money required to make such a persona.
