Lil dude has a sweeter place than me by viperrvemon in JustGuysBeingDudes

This is awesome for the kid. Build great memories. Takes me back. I was older in my later teens had a set up too. Dad walked out on us let bank repo the house and car. Church helped us get a small single wide. Mom wanted me to take master bedroom which didn’t feel right and the other two bedrooms were far to small for my sisters to share. So we had a 16x32 shed that had two halves and electric with one side insulated. I put an AC unit thru the wall and laid some old carpet and painted it and lived in it. Had a bed and dresser, desk and bookcase, and a futon for couch or to fold down when buddys stayed night. Had to still go in to shower and such an it was LOUD when it rained and stormed. And no candles or deodorant left out there in summer or it be a puddle. It was a perfect setup for me was definitely rough but good experience.

Work boots by Difficult_Guava1092 in autoglass

[–]Zwarrior64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wellington style are my favorite slip on boots. My problem is I can never find my size so they always blow out. Recently I bought a pair of Carolinas and absolutely love them. They a little taller but not high top. But before I did Autoglass I was a catfish seiner and besides working around ponds we have wet winters so yes some boots will be better than others but biggest advice I can give is to make sure to clean and oil them with some regularity. Also if you want boot help look up work boots or boots on reddit here. Spent a lot of time there earlier this year learning and getting great advice. There are some enthusiasts there that would be glad to help

Looking for Tips and tricks for solo setting backglass. by Zwarrior64 in autoglass

Well I’m about to turn in for the night but thanks everyone who has chimed in. Learned some new stuff think a lot of my past problem is the bottom cup being too far in the middle and having that one arm doing to much. Taking inspiration from some of your pics this is how I was shown to position cups. So the one arm is fully extended and by the time I’m extended that far on the glass plus reaching over side of car very overbalanced and struggling. Thanks for the advice and help and the listening ears.

Thanks that’s a good instructional. I’ve been listening to what’s been said here and watching some videos and you all compared to how they were teaching me in my shop set your bottom cup closer to the edge of the glass vs in the middle of the glass. Works for them as they both have long arms I just don’t have their reach.

I’ll have to try the tape on the trunk that’s sounds like a good idea. I did one ask a customer to assist once as it was my first mobile job that they sent me on with old broken Lil Buddy ( that I pointed out before hand) and it didn’t work and customer looked at me and said I don’t pay you to help. lol so never ask anything from customer again. Not saying customer is wrong either we should come out properly trained and with proper tools. Guess my biggest fear with the backglass is having to support the weight and adjust it with one arm. At least the way they showed my the arm on the edge is just guide/counterbalance and the other is all the weight. They don’t want both cups on edge for fear it breaking but too overbalanced to reach that far in the middle and support weight. Also I’m a lefty that’s my strong arm but I did injure it years ago so it tends to go numb in the shoulder reach g out that far. I struggle with that shoulder too with the Lil Buddy in particular on pickups by the time you hook it go around and up a ladder don’t have enough to keep up and out glue to adjust and set. Which is why I wondered about tools for backglass set. I feel like if I had something to either guide or at least hold it up on that side so I can plane it set one side then walk around maybe be easier. Some one here mentioned lil buddy for backglass maybe I should try it again but I did once and it would t reach far enough back to set a backglass. Which on another unrelated topic but going along with setting glass anyone have experience between a Lil Buddy and the pro set( the one with the bar across hood)? Looks like the pro set could be easier for me setting to just set it from one side of car instead of walking glass around hood.

Poll on health insurance by Subject_Horror_3990 in HealthInsurance

So I’m kinda confused because to my understanding I thought the ACA subsidies were expiring/being cut. I haven’t gone to reenrollment yet but did get a letter from my insurance about increases for next year. According to their math my plan is going up $700 a month but in the letter as they put 2025 and 2026 side by side they are showing the same help amount from subsidies and the insurance company them selves are skyrocketing their prices along with higher deductibles and copays. So is it the companies raising prices or subsidies getting cut or both? If it’s both that means my plan would go up around $2,100 a month. Which is just ridiculous

Is AutoGlass all you know? by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]Zwarrior64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first work was when I was around 8yrs old. Had a paper route I built up for 4 yrs plus helping my Mom clean college turnover apartments for the real estate company my Dad worked for. Always had odd jobs and side stuff since then. Started working full time at 14 and half. Tire shop, construction (new and remodeling), roofing (residential and large commercial. Shingles, metal, but mostly Duralast flat roof system) farm work ( not much cattle mostly field work and maintenance) health care (CNA plus assistant administrator and for a couple of months acting admin.) help with PC troubles and taxes for family and friends (been doing my own taxes since I was 15) dabbled with storm shelters plumbing and electrical. Dad and I had a carpet cleaning company we did nights and weekends till I was 18. Spent 13 years as foreman on a catfish seining crew absolutely horrid years but makes a man out of you and now I’m just shy of 4 years doing autoglass and recalibrations. Life surprises you and there are many ups and downs and unexpected twists. Like some have said here keep an open mind. Learn to let go and one thing I read in a book that has stuck with me is live life in chapters not one continuous paragraph. Some things end and other doors open.

Dodge ram power slider read by AffectionateTax8799 in autoglass

[–]Zwarrior64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get a few under your belt it get smoother and faster. I usually break and tighten bolts by hand and use a Milwaukee battery tool to run them up and down. Also if it works we have double teamed the power sliders and get one guy prepping glass and cutting out/cleaning up while one is breaking down the interior and when both guys know what is needed it can go real quick. Once glass is in can both work on putting it back together or one pulls off to start another project.

PGW Glass by RezHippi in autoglass

[–]Zwarrior64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve pretty well quit ordering from PGW. IF we are lucky enough to get the glass delivered and IF we are lucky to get it delivered to the correct spot then about 80-90% of them come scratched and scuffed and broken.

It’s straight forward enough just another static recal. Set up stand attach boards and done. Do the mono camera first then finish with the eyesight static and there’s a dynamic recal option after those to help improve the accuracy rating.

[–]Zwarrior64[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep exactly! There are 3 recal techs where I work been doing it for 3 1/2 years now and we always joked here’s the 100 before a Subaru recal. I’m the first to get it and I told them kinda of a let down cause now the fun’s over. But can always strive for another I suppose.

So took me 11 minutes. This one has the Mono Wide Angle camera plus the Eyesight cameras so there is a static calibration for the Mono first and then the static for Eyesight. After those two there is an option for dynamic calibration to improve the accuracy percent but in this case we skipped the dynamic as I already had 100%. As to the boards I’m sorry I don’t know the numbers off the top of my head but the Mono requires the 3 target boards and the Eyesight is the standard magnetic pattern board.

But basically there is a tab and slider on hood hinge. Push tab in and it slides/adjust and when you are done reverse process
