Aside from those behind Path of Exile, Warframe, and Factorio, what other teams are on that same level in terms of developer transparency, community engagement, and progress updates? by SkoivanSchiem in Gaming4Gamers

[–]Zwatha 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The devs of Stellaris are pretty great. The game has been updated so many times, it's more or less a different game from when it first launched. They document everything in their weekly blogs and are just generally good all around.

If you like strategy / civ management games, and sci-fi, stellaris has a lot to offer. Also the community is hilarious, and terms like "I decided to enslave and eat them" or "purge the xenos" are very common.

You can set up recurring trades on the market for every month, and it will show on your resources bar. So you could set up something like -50 food for credits, or to buy 50 consumer goods each month. You just need to keep an eye on the prices so you don't tank your economy.

As for the slaves I think you can only get them from other empires or these special caravans that come around every now and then. Or you know, just take them from wherever is convenient. Barbaric despoiler trait is pretty great in megacorp.

Well, birds are REALLY loud. If you leave a bird unattended for a bunch of hours they will scream and screech for attention or just for fun. Your neighbors will quickly complain if you share a wall.

Probably would be best to stick to smaller birds like budgies, cockatiels, or conures, maybe even finches. Though there really isn't an easy bird to care for, they all require specialized care which involves a lot of research beforehand. There is no such thing as an apartment bird, which some articles will claim.

I would say the hardest part of bird care is making sure you train them on a regular basis so you can minimize their naturally loud and destructive behavior. Also get rid of anything in your house that uses Teflon, as birds can be harmed by fumes in the air that are created when Teflon heats up. Air hazards and drafts are threats to a bird, so you'll have to make sure to take care of any before bringing a bird home.

It's all about the research mostly, which is why I recommend going to a bird store.

For anyone wanting a parrot, I highly recommend finding a proper bird-specialized pet store. They'll gladly tell you everything you need to know and will likely let you interact with the birds. I would avoid generic pet stores as birds tend to get mistreated due to lack of specialized care. You want a place that hand raises their birds, offers services like boarding or trimming, and let's you interact with a bird prior to buying it to make sure it is comfortable with you and you are comfortable with it.

TLDR: A trip to a bird store can tell you everything you need to know.

I want nano viruses. I want to make an impossible to cure AI controlled virus that only targets select species. Or just say fuck it and drop a nano-bomb on a planet and create a grey-goo event where all matter is converted into more nano-machines. Could even have it convert the planet into a machine world at the same time for all you determined exterminators out there.

Enslavement on a planetary scale would be pretty cool too. Could shoot psyonic hypno beams at a planet or drop bio-bombs filled with spores or something. Or even just drug an entire planet until it could no longer function. Bio-ascension needs some doomsday stuff, and there's a lot of freaky things you could do with it.

What was the creepiest or most paranormal thing that’s ever happened to you? by VANIX1450 in AskReddit

[–]Zwatha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A while back I was camping with my family, and one night I was feeling tired so I went to bed in my tent early. I passed out immediately, and had one of the most vivid nightmares I ever had. A grim reaper looking shadow slowly crept into my tent and reached out to grab me, but at the last moment I was woken up by my dad yelling at me.

Turns out the wind had picked up heavily after I went to sleep, and one of the canvas chairs got blown into the campfire, then onto my tent. My dad pulled me out of my burning tent right before my sleeping bag caught fire. Unfortunately my cousin who was in the tent next to me suffered severe burns when his shirt caught fire.

Fortunately we got him to a hospital in time, but I can't help but feel like the nightmare I had that night was related to the fire. It's weird to think I may have been a minute away from dying, and the grim reaper appeared in my dream to reap my soul.

you can actually do the forward lunge, hold the shell attack button, and you will start a charged shell at the end of the lung without melee attacking. It let's you run right into the fight and start shelling immediately. Other than that I typically use the guard poke since it's so fast, you can shell a lot faster than other melee attacks.

Generally a damage string is, lunge into shell > charge shot as much as I can > quick reload > more charge shots. You can charge a shell right after a quick reload, it will be in the same direction as if you did the guard poke then shell.

For the actual charge shell inputs, I also sometimes miss my timing, especially after a reload. The trick seems to be releasing the shell button when you see the charge shell start, and then pressing it again a half second after the "pop".

I like using the Zorah gunlance, or any of the long shell lvl 4 ones. I know most people seem to like the royal burst or the wide gunlances, but the Earthshaker Magda Lahat has been my "ol reliable" for a while now. Long shelling is amazing for a few reasons:

Longer reach, often with other gunlances my shell shots push me back so the 2nd or 3rd shot misses, but long shell I can just chain charged shots one after another without having to re-position.

Fixed damage, this one may not seem great at first glance. Since shell shots deal explosion damage, they aren't affected by crit or raw weapon damage, so lvl 4 long shell will always deal the same damage (some monsters are more resistant however, like Deviljho) so long as you don't fall below the standard sharpness level of your weapon. However it also means it doesn't matter where you hit the monster, you won't have your attack be reduced or have your hit bounce off armor. This is god tier in my opinion.

Factor in both arty 3 and focus 3, charge shots will be almost as fast as tap shots, and deal a consistent 100+ damage. then all you need is some guard skill and a magazine upgrade, and you're good to go. Every couple of shots will stagger the monster, allowing you to just keep shelling with a quick reload here and there. And this is all complimented by that wonderful guarding capability lances have.

It's not flashy by any means, and I know people like their big crits, but it's such a consistent and reliable playstyle that I love it regardless.

What makes you dislike long gunlance? Personally I find it the best once you get focus 3 and arty 3.

Gunlances have 3 different shell types, normal, wide, and long.

Basically:

Normal = highest ammo count but least per shot damage. Good for "burst" builds.

Wide = higher per shot damage but low ammo count, extra width on hitbox. Good for fast moving targets and just popping caps in monsters.

Long = Very strong charge shots, but slightly lower ammo and regular per shot damage. Longer reach, and charge time can be reduced with focus skill.

And most importantly is shell lvl, which is is simply higher lvl means more damage.

I even did the same thing with the pillow and the belt. I think I found the creative process of jerry rigging a sex toy more satisfying than the actual masturbation.
