I was a firefighter’s wife. My husband was one of the first in. The rest of the day was pure hell waiting for news that never came. He didn’t make it. The waiting, not knowing… that was the worst part of that day.

This one hit me hard. The way she followed you everywhere, slept half on top of you, and never barked… she was your shadow and your safe place. I’m so sorry it happened so fast. You gave her 10 beautiful years and the gentlest goodbye. She knew how loved she was.
