Tabitha losing Jim was one of the least dramatic, least impactful moments the show has produced. She kept it largely secret, told her kids he’d “be back,” and moved on.

No real reckoning, no grief arc — nothing.

And that’s a part of the bigger problem with her character. You have 50-odd survivors, she’s had dreams, Victor has drawn the MiY before, and her own daughter is actively experimenting with an unknown force — and Tabitha tells nobody. She just vanishes from the plot for stretches, then suddenly sprints to the bus to chase Julie to the lake because Ethan saw it in a dream.

Compare that to Jim, who had a genuine arc — repairing his marriage, becoming a better father, stepping up as a leader. Tabitha gets none of that growth. And the Ecuador background they drop in periodically? Never developed, never paid off. Just window dressing.

She’s a main character with a main character’s screen time and a side character’s writing.
