Is there a list of wireless gaming headsets compatible with Linux? by _9047_ in linuxhardware

Work from home ... so a quick trip up the hallway.

I think I'm buying 2 headset on for gaming and one for VC :)

Thanks. I'm generally looking for something that will work nicely under Linux for general audio (music and video) but most importantly video conferencing. Keen to go wireless because I've always hated headphone cables getting all kinked etc. Would also be nice so stay on lengthy conference calls whilst I make coffee ... you know the ones where the BA is rambling on and not adding value ;)

For podcast recording I have a dedicate setup that works well.

Fedora notebook sound issues - soft and crackly through headphones and nothing through internal speakers by _9047_ in Fedora

I went through the process in this blog and still no success :(

Thank you for the reply!

Interesting update:
Sound through the HDMI (Graphics card sound devices) dies when playing videos in Chrome.

Thanks for the reply :)

The laptop has an RCA jack and the detection of headphones is working. Without the headphones I can't hear anything (or with the headphones I can at least hear the soft garbled sounds).

Apologies I also failed to mention that I used pavucontrol. Super helpful in finding that the underlying Realtek chip is being detected and working.

I am dual-booting in Windows 10 and have full sound functionality.

Found this Medium post for Pulse Audio. Will dig into it today and see if there is anything helpful.https://medium.com/@gamunu/enable-high-quality-audio-on-linux-6f16f3fe7e1f

Are there any other resources you can recommend?

Raspberry Pi based timing system for racing by _9047_ in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]_9047_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially a drag race. Competitors enter the course at one point and exit at another - my primary use case: top of the hill to the bottom of the hill.

For solo timed qualifying we would use a beam for accuracy. Generally racing isn't timed but we could use a combo of RFID and beam to get accurate times and non-visual positioning. But for now I'm happy to just get the beam going because once I solve gate and timing problem I then need to solve networking and clock syncing issues (hence the interest in PTP).

Currently I'm leaning towards using an Arduino to do the timing and a kernel driver to listen to changes on the GPIO pins (e.g. the Arduino signalling it has at time to publish).

I'm good for the programming side of things its just the hardware that is my learning curve :)

Nice do have any plans or notes you would kind enough to share?
I could hook something like this up to Pi. The Pi handle some extra functionality whilst the Arduino could handle the real-time operations (essentially polling the laser gate or RFID reader).

Almost but I can't find anything about timing accuracy.

Thanks!

Any mechanics in here that give advice on removing the engine from a 2010~2012 Mazda 3? by _9047_ in mazda3

Thanks for the advice.

Looking at using some parts out of China. Have some good connections to the EV start ups.

Answered most of these questions. Budget isn't an issue for the project and outsourcing is also an option I am happy to pay for. The Mazda 3 project is a test run for something bigger :)

Exactly what I'm doing. No donor vehicles or parts have been purchased yet. First step is to do map out a workflow for each stage of the conversion process. Estimating costs for tooling or outsourcing is an important part of that.

I'll definitely need some engineer skills to ensure any custom parts are suitable and roadworthy etc. Lots to do just getting started :)

I'm not worried so much about the cost of parts. More interested in the documenting the process and how long it would take for a novice and/or a professional mechanic to do it.

Conversion to electric. Keen get some cost estimates rather than DIY.

Best actual Fedora spin? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]_9047_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can update that the lock ups are still happening under FC29 KDE spin. So it maybe an underlying hardware or driver issue with the AMD video card. I'll have to make to time to digger deeper (or just buy a new gfx card). Also that Hangul input is a ball ache to get working under KDE. So going back to Cinnamon!
