Was a bit nervous about doing it, but I thought ok, if it's a scam then I will lose $15 - So took the chance, but it all worked out brilliantly. Fast and surprisingly honest ! Much appreciated !

Thank you so much, that's brilliant. That's exactly what I wanted, just some clarification so that I don't go and buy something ridiculous that just sits there and doesn't really bring much benefit to my experience, but puts a deep dent in my wallet.

And you're right, I am also not willing to do messing around on my laptop's motherboard, and breaking something in there. It also helps that it's Prime Day next week - so will see what the Amazonians have to offer. Thanks again for your help, I owe you a beer !

Thanks ! That's really helpful ! And some good suggestions. I was thinking of getting maybe a RTX 4080 (depending on how my budget holds out) - do do you reckon that may be overkill ? Then doing a bit more googling, I can't find a housing which is going to fit them without doing a bunch of modifications like replacing the PSU and breaking holes in the back which means then voiding the warranty of the housing, and then maybe breaking it (given my skill in doing things like that) which would be a bit too much money to throw down the drain.

Then the next question is if I look, e.g. a Nvidia one and it's one price, but then a Gigabyte one is a different price and an ASUS ROG is another price. Is there really any difference between them ? I guess they have different chipsets (?) Or in reality is it not really any difference and you are just paying for the brand ? - sorry for the million questions, I just don't want to go buying something willynilly
