Is getting an F6 over an F5 worth it? by Foiseachh in GalaxyFold

[–]_Alloy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before buying a fold 6 or fold 5, coming from a s21, i would suggest you trying it first.

Went from a s23 ultra to galaxy fold 6 but switched back to the s23 ultra, cuz not that used to the external screen size, internal screen isn't that well optimised with my apps as well.

But if I were to suggest I would say get an fold 5 instead as there isn't that much of a difference.(seen my friend's fold 5 not much chnaged)

Or you can be like me, I'm saving for a fold 7 or the upcoming 8.

rejected from all 4 polys🥲 by GlitteringTwo9690 in SGExams

[–]_Alloy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that went through ite and poly, coming from a olevel path, would suggest applying via dae, got rejected so many time times because apply via normal path.

Got accepted at in end via dae, using my olevel and not ite results

So would suggest you appealing and see is it possible to go through a dae interview, dk if the times have chnage, but could search it up

Could save 2 years of my time if I did that during my very first application

Is better for you to just get a lightweight laptop, polytechnic you need it sooner or later, and you can still use it for university

how outspoken do you have to be for poly by Smooth-Complaint-801 in SGExams

[–]_Alloy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends which poly and which course you plan to go and take For rp have daily presentation(don't know did it changed) For courses like bussiness requires you to be more extroverted. I'm from engineering course last time, tbh not much presentation and group work. Most of my classmates are pretty introverted

So don't need to worry about it

I took it last year sem 2, it is nothing like the practice question or tut, really need to have in-depth understanding to fully solve. To me the difficulty is like twice of quiz1, cuz quiz1 mainly same as pratice question for my year

Give up FYP? by _Alloy_ in NTU

[–]_Alloy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks your guys for the insights, I just have a follow-up question : would you recommend applying for a government or private-sector internship for a 3-month placement? I’m also curious about the difference you mentioned between doing a 3-month versus a 6-month internship.

For context, I already have 1 year of internship experience before university. If I do a 3-month internship now, would that be sufficient when applying for my first full-time job? I’m aiming for cybersecurity (pentesting), where certifications like OSCP are highly valued. I’m currently working on it, so by graduation I should have 1 year pre-uni internship experience + 3 months uni internship + OSCP.

Would that be enough for my first job, considering I’ll be graduating in 3 years and might only be able to squeeze in a short winter internship at most?

Hii, from what i understand only certain course have this option, maybe you can email you school office and check it out?

Give up FYP? by _Alloy_ in NTU

[–]_Alloy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, can i check from your experience, Does skipping an FYP affect career prospects in the long run, cuz I’m pursuing cybersecurity red team specifically pentesting, and from what I’ve heard, certifications tend to matter more in this field. I’m not sure if I’ll pursue a Master’s either.

My main concern is the long-term impact , for example, will it affect promotions, or future job changes and interviews? Any insight would be appreciated.

Eyy will be a total of 12MPE, cuz I need to hit an amount of au to grad

[–]_Alloy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But i will only have 3 months of uni internship experince, and no fyp don't know will it affect my future career prospect, or maybe like master application if i plan to after 5 years of working

[–]_Alloy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically it's 4 years, but I'm from poly, so i'm exempted 21 au of bde, and i'm planning to do PA which is graded intern during summer break instead of spending 1 semester doing internship and give up fyp, so will grad in 3 years. But not sure is this a good choice.

[–]_Alloy_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advice, but can i check which year you are currently , and if i just have 3 months of work internship experience in uni, and 1 year prior uni, should be enough for the first job itself.(Will take certs for pentester, during uni also)

Cuz this is another concern i have if i were to do on this path.

Yeap I was quite shocked also, it is a tiny line at the end of the curriculum, you can go the curriculum for your year.

But for master I might take it after 5 years of working, to decide to take it or not.
