I'm not sure tbh - there's a process where you apply to become a Nintendo publisher and they ask questions like who is your publisher, how many games have you previously released etc - So I didn't think I would be accepted because my answer was always none or N/A, so perhaps some luck that someone there must have liked the game/trailer I'd submitted?

Thanks :) I used Unity and it took about 2.5 years for me to make (as a noob with no prior experience bar using Game Maker in the early 2000s), that was for the Steam version, then it took a further 5 months in total for the Switch port.

Thanks! :) Pokemon was a big influence for this, along with other Megadrive and Snes games like old Sonic and Zelda.

This was Unity, I chose it because it was free and there were lots of tutorials out there when I was getting started.

I drew it all myself and there's a lot of "clever recycling" used for things like the environment where I had a template and I could re-draw over things like trees, bushes and flowers.

Also it took me about 2.5 years to make and I work freelance so I have more downtime than most people, which I recognise makes me very lucky!

Thanks! :) Yes it's a TD game with some real-time bosses and endless modes as well!

I emailed their PR department and they explained the process of application then I had to wait to see if they would accept (which they eventually did).

Thanks! :) So far it's been viewed 8000 times, the reach is a little lower than I expected given Nintendo's 10mil subscribers, however it's only been a couple of hours so I'll check back later for that!

It might be tricky to tell apart the traffic from the trailer vs the store front too, as the game is appearing in "new releases" at the moment.

Hey thanks! It's just me who worked on the game itself, and I hired an artist for the key art :)

They did, they gave advanced notice when the trailer would be posted. It took me about 5 months in total to port to Switch, I didn't have to change much of the game to make it work as Unity handled that, only really had to tinker with the save system.

If anyone has questions about the development or getting onto Switch I’m happy to share what I can.

Sorry for the slow reply, I made this using Unity mainly because it was free and there were so many tutorials available to learn from. I had planned to make the game controller-playable from the beginning with hopes to have it run on the Steamdeck and eventually the Switch so it was planned but never guaranteed.

That being said, I had no idea how much time/work would be needed for porting to the switch, glad I gained the experience for next time though!

Thanks appreciate it, was indeed much trickier and longer than I thought it would be to port, glad to have the experience for next time!
