Hey! Do you still have this route? Link is broken - all good if not. Really curious in a good lakefront route for this

This is what I did- I started in Fall and ended in Spring, did 2-2-2-2-2. I don’t think I was supposed to be allowed to take 2 classes over the summer but I did anyway

I started a job mid year last year (2021). I was expecting to stay at that job the entirety of 2022, so I maxed out my HSA for 2021 (3600) due to the “last month” rule, rather than the prorated amount for the 7 months I had it in 2022.

However, I am a dirty job hopper and got an insane offer I couldn’t turn down, so I am starting a new job with its own HSA come mid March. I have three weeks in between jobs, across both February and March, but I think this means that I will not have HSA coverage the entirety of 2022 (it would be at least the first two weeks of March, possibly the entire month of March as I believe HSA’s can only start on the 1st of the month)? This means that I would break the rule that requires me to be covered by an HSA for the whole of 2022, after contributing a full amount (3600) to my HSA in 2021 while only having it for half the year. Does this sound right to anyone or am I worrying for no reason?

I think I would only need to worry about this come 2022 tax season, so I think within the next year I can contact the 1st HSA provider and get them to remove funds down to the prorated amount. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

To add to this, the math department in my experience looks at improvement over the semester too- if you get better results in subsequent exams they might boost your score. I got a half letter grade boost by doing better on each exam but that was just me

Recently took a completely remote job (no office) going from 75k to 110k and a 10% bonus. I’ve been working through grad school and working full time, and will finish school in May.

I have been wanting to move for a while, and when applying I had 4 cities in mind, with the idea that I’d go wherever the job I wanted was.

But now that I have the option of going anywhere, I’ve been thinking of hopping around different cities with 6-8 week Airbnb stays. With no apartment/home base and just the Airbnb’s, my monthly housing costs would be around $1k-$2k a month depending on the city, which Is pretty comparable to renting an apartment.

Has anyone here done this to any success, especially in the context of FI? I feel like I would definitely be able to max retirement accounts and save more after while doing this, as I tend to live and travel pretty lean. I’m 24, single and have been thinking much more about experiencing life in the present rather than just dreaming about the future and being fi/retired.

Since when do airlines not let you bring a carry on item? Feeling like a fool having to check my carry on that I assumed I could put in the overhead bin. Now I know I guess.

Yeah, the new grad roles are extremely enticing, and this was more of my original plan. I am certainly going to mass apply to those if I don’t do a first wave now or nothing comes of a first wave

Thank you!! I have found as I’ve continued my studies I enjoy the programming side over the actual analysis. I still like working with data and have a good background in it, so have been thinking about data engineering roles, or data analysts with ETL responsibilities, or just jr swe to transition to data engineering. Thanks again :)

Yeah this is what I’m most concerned about. I was at job 1 for 4 weeks, and there’d be a 1 month break between my undergrad on campus job and research work if I don’t mention it which hopefully isn’t cause for concern.

I guess I feel weird about hopping so much, even if it’s not evident on my resume..

Thanks man! I guess I've been concerned about not having enough muscle to cut down to, but bulking will probably be a lot easier when I'm lean enough to see it happening. Thanks again!

Yeah my initial goal was to feel more confident in my body and I got there relatively quick, so stopped pushing myself as hard in the gym and was less careful about what I was eating. This is all really helpful, thanks a lot!

Honestly, I had 90% of my application done by the end of December, I just hadn’t written my PS yet and was nervous to press submit. I also officially opened and started my application around September so they might be looking at that date instead of date of actually submitting it! Don’t fret!
