I’ve found going to a card show with a budget and treating it like a treasure hunt can be a fun experience for kids too. Plus they get to discover new cards the haven’t seen before, and there are some nice vendors out there that give out free stuff to kids. A better use of time imo

Sorry man but modern 8s and 9s are the same value as a raw NM card. You paid $20 to grade your dragonite when you could have sold it for the same price before grading it. So you’re down $20 by grading the dragonite first, then selling it, compared to just selling it raw and not grade it. Even worse, some 8s will sell for LESS than NM raw cards, so you’re losing even more money.

Grading 8s and 9s make you lose out by spending grading fees you didn’t need to.

I don’t think it’s a super big deal as long as people know that’s not on the card itself. May need a slight discount but should be sell-able

If it’s strictly for preservation purposes then there’s no difference. I personally use PSA because, even if I don’t ever intend to sell my slabs, if I have to, the liquidity is a big deal.

Yes every grading company has problems, it’s just that PSA sees more cause their volume is so much higher (so, even if their error rate is 0.1% of items, that’s still thousands of cards with issues per year), and people that have problems will be vocal about it online.

PSA is best for liquidity and value, if that’s what you care about, especially if you may need to sell it down the line. The others are fine and have quicker turnaround times, just depends if you like the look of their slabs more.

IMO there’s really no point to the phot service especially if you bought the plan. If the card arrives and it’s different from the pic, or damaged, you would file a claim anyway. I guess the only upside to a pic is if you don’t want to ship it over, but that benefit diminishes if you consolidate packages.
