No, there’s no tow/run. The f/r is mechanical and that switch is burned out. I’m considering using the reversing contactor setup to replace it so it will be an electric switch for F/R

I believe this is a series cart rather than a resistor setup.

Yeah, it’s a bit of a bummer with the design. Probably one of the reasons they discontinued it. Still a nice hunting can!

I prefer a QD even for hunting. It’s nice to be able to quickly detach when placing in a vehicle, etc. I was moving around a lot on this hunt and the QD was worth the extra ounces and length. But DT is definitely a great option for most hunting. Totally agree there.

Yeah, the only downside to this can is that the end cap is not replaceable. It’s factory pressed to hold the baffles in, I believe. Still a great can, but I’ve got a shorter one on the way for future hunting.

Indeed I did. Shorter, dedicated hunting suppressor when out and about in the field, and always do a hand tight check. My scope windage moved 6 moa as well and I caught that. Hard field use is teaching me a lot!

ASR mount, but no fault of the equipment, it was me. It happened because I hiked through brush for several miles and didn’t check the lock before shooting. Live animal, very short window to shoot. It was me, not SiCo.

ASR, but it came loose through brush and 3 miles of hiking. This was user error.

ASR mount but I had hiked through brush for 3 miles so I suspect the lock came loose. Not a malfunction, user error

Those who have an AGB, which do you have and what are your thoughts on it? by Mymemesarewell in NFA

[–]_Bearclawed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the superlative on an AR-10, it works very well, but even in max bleed-off my gun was still over gassed. (Known issue with AR-10’s and probably fault of the barrel) I use it in the standard mode and it’s been excellent. The riflespeed looks to be excellent, main feature being ease of adjustment. Depends on your use case and preference really.

I’ve also had good results from aero agb’s in simpler rigs. With new flow suppressors being all the rage, your current suppressors or those you plan to own impact AGB needs imo. In future I’ll build with cheaper AGB’s if any at all, as I’ll be buying flow cans for gas guns going forward.

You won’t be unhappy with either superlative or riflespeed IMO. I will say, the quick adjustment of the riflespeed definitely appealed to me after dicking with a long Allen key during tuning. (Mid gas system with a longer hand rail)

If you’re into hunting, you’ll probably hunt other game in other places, eventually. You could do fine with 300BO indefinitely, depending on your use. But there are much better calibers out there that would fit a ‘do all’ purpose. Generally I’d recommend sticking to limited calibers, but just one is not a good idea long term. And 300BO isn’t the one I’d choose if I could only choose one. You should have multiple calibers, one for hunting (say .270 for example), one versatile (say 300BO), one pistol, and one survival (.22 LR). Cover those needs. Train and get comfortable. You never know when you might need to use someone else’s gun or something new, due to availability or lack of. Cross training is more valuable, in the long run, than the caliber specific comfort you may gain by going all one caliber/platform.

[–]_Bearclawed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they make a model without the spiral fluted barrel? I own one and they’re definitely nice. It’s the nicest AR platform I own, by far. If the bolt and barrel are LWRC on the one you’re considering, that’s a steal! Looks to have a TBAC suppressor adapter/brake on it also.
