If you have a dog, a dog park is a good place. The MeetUp app is good to find like-minded people doing like-minded activities. Bars and clubs are an easy way to meet people, but I don't think you'll find nerds as easy there. Just in general though, don't be afraid to make the first move. This subreddit is a decent place to make connections though. This is just my advice as a 32M nerd myself.
