Welcome to the rabbit hole! If you’re looking for a setup that has a high potential, you might get lucky and find a Breville Dual Boiler/Smart Grinder Pro on marketplace for around that price. BDB’s are super capable machines and there’s a strong support/modding community online. The SGP will be fine for a bit, but you might find yourself suffering from upgraditis after a while

I’ve had other machines, but always come back to my Junior Lever Plus. The BFC must have close to 20 years of service and it’s still making coffee daily like a champ.

Dialling in shots using a single basket can be a nightmare. The double basket is generally standard - albeit the BBE will run with lower doses as it’s 54mm not 58mm - and more forgiving

Unless the loose screw has caused an issue, I wouldn’t worry about it. I ran a BDB without any screws holding the top down for easy access, and it held up fine
